Arlington H1N1clinic today

Anonymous
Has anyone been today? Do they still have both the mist and the shot? What is the wait like?

A zoo. Heard they have police there and someone in the parking lot telling people to come back later. The good news is their site now says that they will have the clinic Thursday and Friday as well, so maybe that will calm things down a little.

We arrived at about 7:30, and were about 20th in line. By the time we left at 8:30 it was crazy, with the lobby completely filled with what must have been 150 or so people and the elevators very crowded. We were able to get both FluMist and the shot, but I don't know what availability is like now. They were pretty effiencient, but I'm sure the wait was quite long, given the number of people.

I arrived at 9:30 and was told the wait is about 2 hours. Had to leave because of work commitments, so can't comment on efficiency. The place was packed, people camping out in every corner and by the elevators.

Just got back from the clinic. We arrived at 8:00 a.m. and were there until 10:00 a.m. They told people they had plenty of vaccine to cover everyone there (we were 133 in line). It was much less crowded when we left, but they had split up the crowd across two floors, so I don't know how busy it still is. They still had both the mist and shot when we were there.

Are they still not vaccinating kids under 2?

They clarified on their website that they are not vaccinating under 2.

They're definitely not vaccinating kids under two, but they did vaccinate me and my husband instead.

We arrived at 7:45, and were getting the shot at 9:15.

Chaotic. We had a very nice nurse though!

Same experience as a PP who got a good place in line and were in and out by 8:30, but is was, indeed, a zoo by the time we left. I heard one employee telling another they needed additional security for crowd control.

The deal on the two and under - they do have the mist which is ok'd for 2 and older, but they do NOT have any supply of the shot for those 35 months and under. Luckily DD, who needed the shot, just turned three a couple weeks ago so we were fine.

Does anyone know if 1. They require you to be an Arlington county resident (I am Fairfax but work in Arlington and would love to get the shot today), and 2. Do you need proof that you're in the priority group? I have a 5-month-old baby at home, which puts me in the priority group... But will they take my word for it?

You do not need to be an Arlington resident. They were taking people's word for whether they were in the priority group or not.

To 11:18, I am a Loudoun County resident and had no issues so residency is not required. I don't believe you need proof that you are in a priority group though I am 8 months pregnant so I can't say that with certainty. For what it's worth, the people in front of me were parents of a six-month old and they were both able to get vaccinated.

Did they say anything about running out of either the mist or the shot later this afternoon? Also, is it getting any less chaotic?

It just took me 1.5 hours to get through, which wasn't too bad. When I left, it looked like things were even quieter than when I got there. Lots of people, but all under control. It sounds like they don't think they have that many more shots, so I would definitely go today if you want one.

A friend just texted, she is there now and the wait is only 40 minutes. Might spike around lunchtime, though.
