Arlington H1N1clinic today

This is about inconvenience? Tell her to go Saturday to Fairfax when she doesn't have client work.

As a private firm lawyer, she doesn't work a 5 day, 40 hour work week. She is flying up to NY on Saturday with her boss for a series of depositions they have starting on Monday, so Fairfax is out.

Look - I'm sure the vaccine will become more and more broadly available over the next few weeks. CVS minute clinics are already starting to carry it all over the country. More shipments are arriving every day. It would just be nice if those that need it most could get it first. Clearly that isn't happening. It is an everyone-fend-for-yourself situation. That is unfortunate, but such is life.

Nope, I'm a resonable person, and IMO if you got to a clinic and the people working there urge you to get a shot, and you explain to them you aren't in a high risk category, and they say, "That's OK, the goal of the County's Immunization Program at this point is to get as many people vaccinated today as possible" -- then I think if you want the shot, you SHOULD accept the shot.

No absolution necessary. The people who did this did the right thing.

Tell that to my pregnant sister, who has multiple colleagues at her law firm out with confirmed cases of the Swine Flu. She was going to get the shot at the Arlington Clinic today, but it is closed because they ran out. They ran out because they gave it to people who should not have gotten it.

The clinic was up and running before Thursday. Alot of ppl are pissed that they didn't go right away and taking it out on everyone else. My children in high-risk groups were vaccinated the first day when many of you were still saying you werent going to get the vaccine because it was 'rushed'....now the same ppl are b*thcing that others are using up their supplies. Everyone needs to chill.

Please let her know about the Alexandria and DC clinics.

She knows about them, but it may take some time for her to get there. She planned her schedule this week so she would have Thursday morning off to go to the Arlington Clinic. She had to rearrange clients and court dates with her coworkers to do that. As part of the trade off, she picked up some of her coworkers case loads that require her to work later in the evening - so the DC clinic isn't an option, at least not today. I'm sure she's not the only one inconvenienced by this situation. I am willing to bet there are hundreds of people who were planning to go to the clinic today who are now unable to.

There are many, many pregnant women who have been unable to locate the vaccine. There are also many people who are getting the shot who have no right to get it right now. The world is what it is. Everyone fend for yourself, screw CDC guidance . . . screw morals . . . screw values. Get it for yourselves and your families and don't worry about others.

Who said she was the only one in this situation? Do you know how to read? I wrote "I am sure she's not the only one" I will underline it up there for you, since you had a hard time comprehending it the first time.

no, not the only one. There are several of us who value our health and our children's health over our jobs. Why couldn't she tell her employer she's pregnant and needs this vaccine and scheduled it when it first came out? Your anger should be directed at the vaccine manufacturers---there is waaaayyyy less than they anticipated currently.

Agreed that there shouldn't be this kind of a delay. I am also mad at the disorganization and poor communication of the few clinics that have been held so far. I don't know of anyone that even knew about the Arlington Clinic until Tuesday afternoon. However, if there is one thing we knew going into this was that there would not be enough for everyone during the first few weeks. That is why the our nation's top health officials made a determination on who should get them first while everyone else waited until the later shipments started to arrive. Common decency would dictate that people - clinic workers and the general public - abide by those guidelines.

As for your comment on "why didn't your sister just schedule to get the vaccine when it first came out" what are you talking about? It DID just come out. She DID schedule it into her calendar within 24 hours of identifying a clinic. The clinic ran out.

could she try the farragut travel med. clinic like someone else suggested? They schedule appts for high risk groups-- so wait time will be lower and she can plan it with employer. I just got a monday evening appt for my under 2 year old. Good luck.

Oh, please! Some of us could take off work without it being a big deal. That's what you mean. Others of us would get in some real trouble. I'm not that poster, but really, you don't seriously mean that you would be willing to get fired over the vaccine. So don't say it.

If Arlington gave flumist to the non-priority group parents, did they take a shot away from a pregnant woman? No. Would any non-priority person who got a vaccine at Arlington care to comment if they got flumist or shot?

Flumist. I was one of the ones that was told I should get it since my 18month old could not get it. For the record-- I was with my 4year old and told them I wasn't high risk and asked about my 18month old at home and when they expected to have vaccines for him. They said they may never and that I should get the mist that day. No deceipt on my part, no guilt either. I honestly thought there must have been some change in policy because Arlington was making it sound like they might never have it (anywehre ) for under 2. In pandemics the goal is usu. to vaccinate as many as possible as quickly as possible--so thought maybe directives had changed.

pp. thanks. the only people who could get the flumist is anyone over 2 without underlying health issues. A pregnant woman or sick child was not deprived of a shot. That is a clarification that might calm some of this chaos down. Might.

Princess?? Are you kidding me?? You think she is acting like a Princess because she is pregnant and having trouble finding the H1N1 vaccine? Sorry you are somehow offended that a working, pregnant woman is having trouble finding the vaccine. By all means call her names.
