Jewish mom here who has had 4 children be bar and bar mitzvahed and has probably attended 50 others.... it is typical that the bat mitzvah girl and her mother wear fancier dresses and many times wear long dresses when guests wear cocktail.

The kids look darling, but yes, Ivanka is way too formal. Kind of feel like she changed her mind at the last minute because this is clearly not well thought out.

I agree. Kate Middleton just wore a version of that dress to the Saudi whoever, whoever wedding that Vanky attended. My guess is Vanky saw the dress and wanted the same one. At least she bought a different color?
