It's Arabella's bat mitzvah. It looks like Arabella started out in a longer dress that transformed into a shorter one for the party. I love the color of Ivanka's dress and it, surprisingly, fits and is flattering but it's far too formal compared to what everyone else is wearing.

The kids look darling, but yes, Ivanka is way too formal. Kind of feel like she changed her mind at the last minute because this is clearly not well thought out.

The Daily Mail article says that Melania and Donald hosted a birthday lunch for Arabella several weeks before but did not attend the event. I am guessing Barron was not in attendance either.

I think the Kushners are trying to separate themselves from Trump at least in terms of optics right now.

There's also the security aspect of having a former President with Secret Service protection attend. That changes the entire atmosphere of the event.
