Wife is threatening me

My wife threatens to buy expensive handbags or dresses if I don't clean the house. Right now she's on vacation with our toddler. She's demanding that I send pictures of our spotless house. This is not fair. How can I put an end to this?

Do the laundry and text her pictures of the folded piles.

Wash the dishes and text her a pic of the clean, empty sink & counters.

Who else is on vacation with your wife and toddler? Why aren't you on vacation with them?

If it is your wife and toddler on their own, that isn't much of a vacation?

Was she joking as in..she better come home to a clean house?

If you have a history of being a slob and not doing your share of the chores, then more oversight (ie, control-freakiness like hers) is what you deserve. Not that you have to obey... However, if you have proved a clean and reliable person in the past, then you are right, this is not fair or livable.

You always have the option of separating your finances, OP.
You can also choose to hire a housekeeper. My personal nemesis is tidying up and putting things away, however, and a housekeep can't do that for me!

The financial "threat" is weird but it is totally fair to expect you to clean the house if she takes the kid(s) and leaves you alone. My DH is thrilled when I take our toddler to visit my sister.

They went to Disney world. It's just my toddler and my wife. I did not want to take off for a week so I can sweat to death in Orlando. My wife used her parents timeshare in FL.
