I just find it odd how the biggest complaint about a club is how the parents represent themselves or the club online. There have been fair criticisms regarding Barca's tournament and league results and I think most are in agreement that the results are more based on high variance of talent throughout the club. AND YET, regardless of the results people are mostly happy with the training overall. Barca is not perfect but for parents seeking a place where the emphasis is on training, regardless of the players skill level, some folks do find it a breath of fresh air from wherever they came from. The critics of the parents have to understand that many of the kids came from B or C teams in clubs who's coaches or TD's generally overlooked them and in many cases had poor coaching. Barca has provided quality coaches for ALL the players in the club and have gone out of their way to create a confusing naming convention to remove the stigma associated with A groups and B groups. So, if your kid is on a A team, and getting training that you are happy with then don't worry about it, Barca is not hurting you. Barca parents who feel that their kid is finally being given training and the attention like other clubs A team players don't worry about it, Barca is not hurting you. |

DP. This made me chuckle. This poster obviously isn't a part of Barca Academy/has never received a Staff email. Given that these are natives of Spain with limited English, you would immediately be able to tell if this were happening due to syntax, spelling and grammar errors. Also, the manager is not a 'soccer' person, but solely in charge of calendars/scheduling so I am going to say 'not' to this theory. These guys are surely not reading American mom's blogs. Their jobs are secure. But, thanks for the laugh! |

This made me laugh out loud. Last time I checked, the owner and staff of the company who owns this venture with Barca is very American. Sporting Global, look them up. I think it's more likely parents, but that's true on both sides of the debate. Enough of the conspiracy theories. |

ISL Futbol started all of the FCBescolas, now Barca Academies. They are 100% Spanish and the link to all of the FCBs around the World. Co-founder's grandfather was a legendary first team Barca player. They brought Sporting Global in when they grew bigger to help set up the NOVA location as they grew/expanded. I saw the Sporting Global CEO last year, have not seen any sign of him this year. The Offices are purely FCB staff if you happen by. As far as I know, SG in only part of the NOVA FCB. I don't believe they helped set up any of the other FCBs around the US. I could be wrong about SG's reach, but their website also doesn't appear to list any other locations. but, I agree with your other point. |

Sounds like you agree with the first point too. The original post said Sporting Global was the owner of “this venture” meaning NOVA Barca, not the whole Escola system. I imagine SG would have a pretty significant business interest in not only trying to put the NOVA escola in the best light but also to put traditional American venues in a poorer light, even moreso than random club coaches. That said, sounds like all agree that this is very likely just parents trying to justify their own decisions. I personally think this board would be a much better place if all parties could cut the attacks in all directions and just focus on the particulars of their own clubs, without all the drama and negativity. No need to wage unending holy wars like we routinely see here, in many, many threads. No sock puppeting bad things about clubs people don’t like when they aren’t even parents there, throwing “red flags” and “shade” all over the place. |

DP here. I could care less about NOVA Barca ownership structure. What matters to me is the quality of coaching. The technical director has a UEFA pro license, used to play professionally, and comes from a family with a very impressive soccer pedigree. He watches every single team during each practice and goes to tournaments to watch them play. My oldest son's coach is awesome and also has UEFA pro license. Additionally, I like that the quality of coaching and the level of attention to details does not deteriorate based on whether a kid is on A, B, or C team. I have not experienced anything like this with any other local club. |

LMAO. Just like this thread for the "DP" to answer an olive branch with an advertisement that looks like it came straight from management. No one here has ever seemed interested in making peace, only pumping Barca and trashing anyone who points to anything that might be considered negative. Save your breath and energy. |

Who has bashed anyone? People have stated their reasons for liking Barca and they get accused of either being coaches, management or sock puppets. Why are you so bent on attacking the parents? If they claim they are happy you claim they are simply justifying their decision. They claim they are happy and you accuse them of trying to shut you down. Do you have a actual legitimate criticism of the club, it’s training or it’s players? If so I haven’t heard it from you. |

He's not the Owner. He's a contractor brought in to market and help start up the location/find field complex, etc. and expand the FCB Brand when ISL--a direct partner with FCB- was spread too thin. He is on the West Coast. FCB has control of all of the FCBescolas/Barca Academies. Sporting Global owns ZERO of them and has zero control of anything to do with soccer or the training staff/coaches or what is taught at the Academy. The staff reports directly to Barca headquarters in Barcelona every week. The TD at NOVA does not answer to Sporting Global. He answers only to FCB in Spain. If they don't like something SG suggests or contradicts their methods or feel it hurts their Brand, they can tell them to go take a flying leap. There are other sports management firms contracted for other locations. Yes. I am a parent at Barca. I assume you are a parent not at Barca. That is solely what I meant by 'I agree with your other point'. I am not a regular contributor, but I know the history of FCBescolas/ISL very well so it irked me to see somebody spouting false info. |

You should in the sense that you are getting the product. The 'ownership structure' is the reason all of the Coaches at the Academy are UEFA pro-licensed and stick to the methodology/training/development path for all players. I thoroughly researched since there are many 'fakes' out there using FIFA club names. |

| ^^^^ if you are trying to argue Sporting Global has no stake in the venture, you are not right. Semantics aside, it’s in their interest to market the club. Part of that job is advertising the good things about the training, etc, and another is making negative connections with the competition. I can’t speak for anyone else who has posted in this thread, but I can say for myself that I heard SG do both last year. Are you denying this too? |

Where did you hear this? I live in DC and I did not even know FCB was opening. I only learned from a relative that lives in Loudoun because the tryouts were posted in Loudoun Times. If that is Sporting Global's job--they failed miserably at getting the word out. There are still tons of soccer people around me that have never heard of it or have it confused with the former Barca in Alexandria. |
