If shahid was never speeding no one would’ve died and if ben checked the intersection like he’s legally obliged too and stopped no one also would’ve died. The only thing that disgusts me is how one side got away with it while one had to suffer all the consequences.

Even assuming there was some blame on the SUV driver (I don't agree with this, but let's just go with it), he played his cards right - cooperated with prosecution and got immunity. Shahid had a chance to plea, but decided to take this to trial. He got exactly what he deserved for his stupidity 2 years ago and after the accident.

I think he already pay the price, the parents yelled at him a lot for it.

Being at fault aside, likely whole family is living a emotional, financial and social nightmare. One day your 18 year old is graduating and going to college and next day he is in a lethal accident and being charged for manslaughter.

It's very likely there were signs of entitlement prior to this killing. The parents clearly indulged him. And he clearly had no concerns for anyone other than himself and his drug-using friends.

He was not “in” a lethal accident. He CAUSED a lethal accident. And now he’s UPSET that he’s in trouble. He’s sorry he’s in trouble. But there’s been nothing to indicate that he’s sorry THAT HE KILLED 2 PEOPLE.

That is exactly why he won't say anything at sentencing admitting anything. His atty will be appealing and Shahid will continue the charade that he's the victim here. If he actually admits guilt, it will mess up his appeal. So he won't.

For your own good, I’d Get off this thread. Youre not doing him any favors.

again I have no sides, but why will someone be mean to him? He never did anything bad to anyone. HE Never graped anyone - that only happens when u graped someone or touch a kid. he didn't do that. 2 girls died but it was a mistake and they will know that please stop

There's no "mistake" when you intentionally press the accelerator down, and keep holding it down, while you know you are going 46 mph ABOVE the speed limit. That's not a "mistake" -- that's showing such disregard for the safety of others that the risk of hurting others is obvious.

+1 Some of these posters are acting as if 2 people broke a leg or got some bruises and that the driver's life shouldn't be impacted. His victims died! They don't have a life any more!

Dumdum should have said he hit the gas instead of the brakes. He may have garnered more sympathy then.

Why are you randomly throwing allegations of drug use on his friends?

I doubt a student driver was making conscious decisions in that moment of panic.

Oh honey, that’s not how prison works. It’s just not. It’s like living in a zoo, literally.

Correct.

Won’t the guilty verdict, assuming it stands, preclude him from relitigating the issue of fault in a civil trial?

WHAT will the point of a civil trial be?

I am not in anyone side so I just don't understand of doing this again. I think it will be very painful and we just to forgive and move on and God Bless everyone. GOD, Aliah, Dios , Who you pray FOR IF you pray. is fine.
just forgive and put away the Civil trial. There no winners today, we are all hurt. and we can't relive this

That would require him taking the stand. I’m sure the prosecution was ready to eviscerate him.

Nobody is denying that but he is also not the cold blooded killer others are painting him to be. He should face legal consequences but people trying to get him harshest possible punishment and prison rape are also out for blood of a stupid teen who was too excited to take his new car out to high school. I'm all for making him an example but not for sacrificing him for sins of all mankind.
