A style that was still remained quite popular in 1980, 1981 and 1982 practically disappeared overnight in 1983. By 1983 did everyone collectively come together & decide to stop wearing polyester clothing or had the style simply run it's course and it was time to move on? |
| Millennials wearing similar styles in 2018 does not count. I am talking about the early 1980s here. |
What? No, nobody was wearing that in 1980. |
This. I lived in that era, and while bell bottoms and leisure suits sort of made it to 1980, jumpsuits were gone by then, and NEVER worn by men. |
The picture posted was just an example. 1980-1982 for all intents and purposes was still the 1970s. |
| I think this is more from 1973, not 1983. Where does it say it's from the '80s? Nobody wore that in the '80s. |
No, it wasn't. I was there. |
| This is definitely early 1970s. Not anything like the early 80s when everyone was switching to super-tight Jordache Jeans with the tapered legs. |
| The only place you might see a man dressed like that was on Donny and Marie. |
Perhaps not in your circles but many men did in fact wear them. |
|
Here it is listed as a 1972 catalog. OP is off by a decade.

| Just looking at that fabric makes my skin itch |
Find a photo that is not a performer in costume, and not a clothing model, of a man wearing a polyester jumpsuit in the 1970s. And heck, I'll stretch it to the 1980s since you think that was a thing. |
+1 jumpsuits were not everyday attire. You will have to post a pic of a Brady bunch kid wearing one to prove it. |
| Polyester was more than just jumpsuits. |
