In 1983, did everyone collectively come together & decide to stop wearing polyester clothing?

Considering all of the mocking pre 1982 received during the mid and late 1980s it only took around 7-8 years (1990) for a lot of that stuff from that era to come back.

By late 1995 Kiss was back in full make up.

Well, yeah. Because Gene Simmons would do anything to make a buck.

Well Gene did not force anyone to buy tickets.

Boss hog did not wear bell bottom jumpsuits like OP is talking about.

No, but he knows no one wanted to see Kiss without make-up. To truly get the nostalgia feel, they need to be in the full get-up.

And anyway, no-make up Kiss was their worst era. I mean, all Kiss is terrible to me, so that's saying a lot.

This thread is not about jumpsuits. This thread is about polyester.

What about Bell Bottoms?

I remember wearing them in ‘81 & ‘82, but by the next year or two it was like the fell off of earth.

Yes in the 2010s and after, before 2008 we mostly more natural fabrics. Everything went downhill after the financial crisis

By 1983 did everyone collectively come together & decide to stop wearing polyester clothing or had the style simply run it's course and it was time to move on?

What? No, nobody was wearing that in 1980.

Yes they were. OP is correct that what we think of “the 70s” continued through around 1982z

You are likely wearing polyester now, it’s just changed.

Polyester is in almost everything sold at any chain store in the USA. I refuse to wear it.

The picture posted was just an example.
1980-1982 for all intents and purposes was still the 1970s.

No. I graduated from HS in 1980 in "fly over country" and by my senior year everyone was wearing straight leg jeans, cotton Lacoste shirts and penny loafers. Bell bottom jeans were still in for my 8th grade year, but a polyester jump suit or leisure suit would have gotten you laughed out school even back then. "Designer jeans" were the thing -- Gloria Vanderbilt jeans were introduced in 1976 and Calvin Klein jeans were introduced in 1978. The "Preppy Handbook" came out in 1980, but it really just latching onto an existing trend.
