Flying the American flag in front of your home. Tacky? A little or a lot?

Anonymous
I realize all the mixed-messages displaying an American flag in front of your conveys, and I could see how people who didn't know you might make assumptions or stereotype you. There are a few homes on our street, including one directly across from me now, that have American flags, but other people have their university flag, or the pride flag, or even Capitals flags right now. To me, they all seem sorta tacky. We don't have a covenant, so there's no rules about it.

I just worry about what people would think of us if we had a flag. Like they would assume we were right wing, or worse. Because that's the type of people I most often see with the American flag, and I wonder why people don't think of this before they put stuff like that up in front of their house for the whole world to see.

You think there’s something “tacky” about displaying the American flag?

Anyone who objects to my US flag doesn't have the guts to say anything about it. Not that it would do them any good if they did. But I would totally enjoy laughing in their face.

This may be one of the most f'ed up posts I've seen on DCUM yet, and that's saying something.

Since you are right-wing, I'm surprised to see that you are worried that people will think you are right-wing. But I guess trolls gotta troll.

You are an American. Own your flag. It’s not just a decoration.

Signed,
Crazy liberal who is sick of the takeover of patriotism by the Republican party

Unless you live in a government building, NO.

My neighbor has the flag, and yes, she's the only one with issues in our cosmopolitan and multicultural street. Like our President, the only foreigners she likes are the Scandinavians across the street. Not the South east or Far east Asians living next door.

What’s wrong with putting up the flag?

Not tacky. I'm a queer person of color and am proud to be an American, of America itself, and, most of all, the Constitution, upon which our great experiment of a society is based.

Get a life, OP!

OP there are so many things wrong with your post and entire thought process.

OP, you are cray, cray! Wave our flag in all of its glory.

I am a liberal democrat and have a flag.

It is gorgeous, that’s what it is.

OP, it's patriotic, not tacky! Growing up, just about every house put out a flag for Memorial Day.

Most of the father's in the neighborhood served in WWII.

I’m the most flaming of the flaming liberals and cannot for the life of me think how a normal American flag would be tacky. Maybe if it’s all tattered up like you don’t care. And yes, I see you are a troll. Answering anyway.
