Are you a part of the new aristocracy?

This is kind of a fluff piece, but it rings true to me (while being admittedly light on statistics).

Sample:

Nowhere are the mechanics of the growing geographic divide more evident than in the system of primary and secondary education. Public schools were born amid hopes of opportunity for all; the best of them have now been effectively reprivatized to better serve the upper classes. According to a widely used school-ranking service, out of more than 5,000 public elementary schools in California, the top 11 are located in Palo Alto. They’re free and open to the public. All you have to do is move into a town where the median home value is $3,211,100. Scarsdale, New York, looks like a steal in comparison: The public high schools in that area funnel dozens of graduates to Ivy League colleges every year, and yet the median home value is a mere $1,403,600.

I'm a part of the new aristocracy. But I don't see any way to help others.

Stop making money easy; stop printing $$$ like crazy and devaluing them.

Growing up in Silicon Valley doesn't make you an aristocrat.

No, I'm part of the old aristocracy.

Embrace pay equity across the board - CEOs and shareholders make insane amounts more than the grunts. The grunts never, ever get shared with, and the new aristocracy has the obnoxious habit of pulling the ladder up behind them as fast as they can. So put a hand down where you can. Look around you. Where is the closest school that needs help? What can you do?

And how will that help the situation in towns like Palo Alto and Scarsdale?

The liberal elites of Palo Alto don't want my brown children in their school.

Well, they DO want your kids, so they can claim to be "inclusive" and multicultural.

But just not *too* many of you. And only the smart, quiet ones, who won't complain about being a token specimen, and who will act just like their own white children.

Lol. I’m sure the new Nazi party wants them, too. Some of them are very good people.

Give a lot to charities especially any that help low income kids and schools, like their PTAs. Start a scholarship for low income kids. There are lots of things you can do if you really want to help them.

liberal elites don't care about your skin color. They don't want you there because you are a Trump lover.

Bethesda, MD is no exception to people being priced out of the public school system there. Too many old SFMs are being torndown to build large McMansions in their place. The old SFMs cost from $800K to $1.25MM so for the builder to make profit, the new McMansions will have to sell for $2.5MM and up. The ratio of total square feet of home to square feet of lot area for the new McMansion is several multiple times that of the ratio for the old home. I blame zoning laws in Montgomery county to be the root cause of people being priced out of Bethesda, MD and its public schools. .

Unless we elect county officials who value and promote economic diversity, racial diversity, and more equal access to all residents the situation will not change. We voters should realize that the special interest groups and lobbyists may shell out campaign contributions and offer other incentives but they also have only one vote per person. We are in much greater number than the special interest groups and the lobbyists.
