BASIS movement

Anyone seen any movement at BASIS? We're 50 something, which sounds bad but was told that BASIS moves through its list pretty quickly.

We moved up by 5 places.

They got to about #100 last year by fall. Every year is different, but I think you have a good chance. Good luck!

And if your child enrolls, I highly recommend BOSS, the orientation program before school starts. Covers the basics like using your locker, how your schedule is structured, organizational tools like the communication journal, etc. Helped my kid feel more prepared for a new school and environment. The school can give you more info about dates and times.

The re-enrollment deadline for current students is 5/19 which will prompt some movement.

We were low 20s on Wednesday and got in yesterday so the list is moving quickly this week.

Hmm.. we only moved by 5 places, however you are saying you jumped by 20 places. How is this possible?

Depends on where you start.

If you were #6 and five people gave up slots or took themselves off the wait list, you would now be #1.

If you were #55 the same 5 people ahead of you would move this person to #50, and an additional 15 people who had WL numbers between #7 and 54 could have left the list.

Then that would mean that those further down the wait list would move more spaces than those higher on the list, which makes sense. But the pp who was 20th on the list got an offer, while the pp who moved up five spaces must have been still lower on the list because no offer was mentioned.

So we were #75 and now we are #70. But I still do not get the logic, how we moved only 5 places while some got the offer being in low 20.

Call the school and MSDC on Monday. But I still think you will get in if your number is below 100.

Re-enrollment deadline is next Thursday. And then there are also a few more who leave when the end of year comps don't do as well as expected (mid-June).

We are in the 50’s and have only moved one space. Why would others move 5 spaces or 20?

It may be that the school is moving through the waitlist making some offers, then waiting until the people accept and turn in all their paperwork before updating the MSDC list?

That’s the only reasonable there could be. If so, things should straighten out in the next week or two.
