I'm obsessed with what hapens after death

Anonymous
Maybe because I have lost a lot of people, and maybe because I have had a recent death in my family again, but I am obsessed with the afterlife. I find myself wondering why more people don't question exactly where a soul goes when it dies-- not in the basic heaven/hell way, but where? A person dies and their being leaves their body....this is the most intriguing subject in the world to me, yet everyone just seems to accept it and move on-- not the grieving of course, but the where. I mourn of course, but I am more curious than anything.

Do you ever watch Tyler Henry Medium? It always makes me wonder.

I had a loved one die recently and I have been questioning it a lot lately.

I want to believe it’s just not: nothing.

My siblings and I have had a few occurrences that we believe are signs from the loved one—even the non-believers.

You are in for disappointment.

There is no answer, so there’s not much to discuss. And where the soul goes is driven by religious beliefs, so not something people usually discuss.

I believe the soul lives on, but I have no idea where. I think possibly some souls stick around or come back to visit. Where they go otherwise, it is beyond my mind’s ability to imagine. Could it simply be here on earth? Sure. Could it be in some place known as heaven? Yup Could it just be part of cosmic energy and able to travel through the stars? Why not. We have absolutely no way of knowing for sure.

OP here, and this is what bugs me. Of all the things we are able to figure out, death is the only one where are forced to make assumptions. Easily the second most important date of your life behind the day you were born, yet so few people seem interested.

OP I had three loved ones die in 4 months and I was really down for a while. I searched for answers and meaning. I realized no one on this planet knows. I want to believe there is a better place than this painful place we live. I was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago. I fear leaving my children. I don't look for answers anymore on what happens after we die. I am spending all my time trying to find the answers on how to survive now! Sorry for your loss and I wish you comfort and peace.

I will let you know after I am dead. I suspect nothing so I am sorry if you do not hear from me.

Plenty of people are interested. That’s why religion exists. But there is no definite answer, OP. So what is the point of obsessing over a question with no answer?

Pp - Well, to add to your misery, you could also wonder where your soul was before it was in your moms womb.

Here’s what I think - I think souls are on an eternal journey of growth. In order to grow you have to be born, experience the joys, sorrows, challenges and successes of living. Then your body dies and your soul continues in heaven, which is everywhere. I believe in heaven you do something of a spiritual self assessment of your life. Understand areas for growth and, when ready, re-enter earth to continue your journey.

There’s a book or movie that captures some of this. I will try to link it.
