VA turning Fairfax County Pkwy into a toll road???

Anonymous
Twice this week I have seen Easy Pass trucks on the side of the road on the FFX Co Pkwy on the stretch between Rolling Road and Ft. Belvoir. They had a truck parked on the side of the road and a guy with a clipboard taking notes.

Is there a way to find out if there are initial plans to turn that stretch into a toll road? I called Easy Pass and the phone person had no idea and said there would be hearings first.

FOIA request?

Is there a way to block such a plan?

Except in the commute hours, that stretch is exclusively local access. And the commuters are limited to one "business", the base.

Making it a toll road would put a huge burden on those who live along that stretch

It's outrageous if true.

I'm tired of sending money to Richmond and then still having to come out of pockets for something as simple as roads.

Agree. I'm already spending $150 in tolls alone every month, in addition to parking and gas, just on the Tollway. If have to use 66, then even more. This is redistribution from the wealthier NoVa residents to the residents in SoVa, and I thought that's what my thousands of dollars in VA state taxes were for.

How could they do that? What about housing developments that open directly onto FFX co pkwy?

I'm so sick of my tax payer dollars going to central and southern Virginia

This should be its own thread. Everyone seems to agree.

are you sure you aren't seeing the emissions trucks? The rapid pass?

By Tollway, do you mean the Dulles Toll Road? If so, the toll increases have nothing to do with Richmond - they are to fund the Silver line construction costs.

Except, I dare say, the people in central and southern VA. And unfortunately for you, they have more votes.

So why would Easy Pass be setting up along the parkway?

They are obviously doing something there.

They should. It seems like a no-brainer for getting more money out of people.

People in NOVA vote overwhelmingly democrat, and that's essentially the consent of the governed to be asked to contribute more of their money to the state and county.

If people weren't ok with paying more taxes, the Fairfax Board of Supervisors would be more republican. But it isn't. So people should expect to pay more because they support democrats.

That is what I was thinking.
