I am 26 years old male and in "relative" good shape. I played D2 college lacrosse but stopped 4 years ago after graduation due to a busy work schedule. I would like to get back in shape in the next three months so that I can feel confidence enough to start dating again. I am 6 ft 1 and weigh about 170 lbs.
For workout: Monday, Wednesday and Friday: work out for two hours in the gym with a personal trainer Tuesday & thursday: swim for 2 1/2 hours Saturday: do hill sprint for 1 hours and run 10 miles on the HS track after. Sunday: rest For Diet: Breakfast Sunday-Saturday breakfast: Granola OATS with pumpkin and chia seeds, slice almond and milk Lunch & Dinner Monday, Wednesday and Friday: baked Shrimp, Chilean Bass and Salmon, respectively with steamed beets, carrots, brocolli and green beans. Serve on Quinoa Lunch & Dinner for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: roasted Chicken or Beef, respectively with Cauliflower & carrots. Serve on Quinoa Lunch & Dinner on Sunday: eat out at restaurants Snack: organic fruit smoothies made from scratch I pay a culinary chef to cook lunch & dinner on Sunday to last the whole week. I have a big subzero refrigerator that can hold food for a week. Will this work out and diet plan get me back in top shape after three months? |
| Your workout schedule seems unrealistic and unsustainable. |

You're drinking your calories/carbs with your smoothie snack.
Opt for a better alternative - nuts comes to mind. Protein powder (mixed with water). Go easy on the quinoa. Trade it out with brown/wild rice. It's not clear - have you started this exercise and diet regime yet or is this a general plan. You're getting a TON of exercise all of the sudden. You might want to ease into it since you said you haven't done much in 4 years. Going from minimal/no exercise to 2hrs/EACH day is going to make you sore and potentially lead to injury ...too much too soon. Your Sat. workout is extreme. YOur knees will kill you, for starters, if you do hill sprints that long and I seriously doubt you'll have enough energy to go for a 10 mile run (which I'm guessing will take you at least 2.5 hrs). |
| 6'1' and 170...is not out of shape per se. So I think your confidence is lacking not because of your body. |

OP here. I am leaving my current job to start a new one in about 3 1/2 months so I would like to use the 3 1/2 months break to get myself in shape. I will not be working during that 3 1/2 months.
I've been working out with personal trainer for the past 30 days and I do workout and swim pretty much every day. I also started the diet plan two weeks ago. I was a 4 star lacrosse recruit in HS so I was a very good athlete back then. I really enjoy the workout for the past 30 days now that I don't have to worry about work anymore. I would like to maximize my work out routine in the coming months that I will not be working. I talked to my current trainer and he said the workout routine is normal. Just want to get another opinion before I go ahead with it in about two weeks. I want to look good and feel good for my potential mate. |
| Question: if you’re a 20-something male former elite athlete working with a professional trainer, why are you asking a bunch of middle-aged moms for fitness advice? |
| Lmao what |
Exactly what I thought too! Anyway, you're a dude and dudes have it way easier than us ladies. We're programmed to retain fat while men gain muscle pretty quickly. |
Haha! +1! - 33 year old mom |
| 2-hour workouts is long if you're just getting back into it. Are you able to keep it up? I'd say start slow and build up to it. |
| You should be able to eat just about whatever your want without getting fat at your age. This kind of food control obsession is definitely a sign of something... you are neither overweight for your height nor skinny. Smoothies are the stupidest thing ever invented, so here is my advice, stop drinking smoothies and eat steak. I suspect your dating troubles are due to your personality, which clearly is not a healthy mind set as displayed in your post. Unless you are a stunt man for the Avengers or Captain America himself, this obsession is mental, not about physical. So here is my advice, you are 26, enjoy life and don't waste it tracking your meals and posting on forums here. You know there are body building forums all over internet? |
| I'd never date someone this obsessed with his eating and fitness. |
| Define your goals? |

Hahaha!!! My favorite line is this one: "I pay a culinary chef to cook lunch & dinner on Sunday to last the whole week. I have a big subzero refrigerator that can hold food for a week." |
