? Kidman is a mother of a 6yr old IRL. And her character is written as older than her DH. I think it makes total sense given the massive wealth and careers of Celeste and Renata as well.

The 5 lead moms showed a great range of mom ages -- just like I'm real life! I hope you don't struggle in your kid's classroom when you realize the age diffence among the moms.

I have a 6yo, and in her class last year, I made good friends with moms who were nearly 50, 41, 30s, late-20s. I'm 34 myself. We all meshed.

There's a difference between nearly 50 and actually 50. Kidman and Dern are actually 50. Why did they make the kids 6? Why not 9?

You're splitting hairs on whether a 50 year old can play a 45 year old?! Please it's done alone the time. Your comment sounds ageist and sexist.

I am a 53 year old mom of a six year old DD and have mom friends of all ages (although mainly 40's)! I don't look as good as Nicole or Dern, but I am so happy every day about my miracle surprise baby! I am the oldest mom I know IRL and she is the most amazing person I know IRL!

The pp who comes back to defend her "struggle" watching two outstanding 50 yr old actresses playing moms of 6yr olds is just ridiculous on several levels. Actors not playing their age happens all the time (see all the late 20 yr olds playing high schoolers ... hello Tim Riggins), Nicole looks fantastic in BLLs and she looks totally believable as a mom. Celeste is written as an older mom (she gave up successful legal career for the younger Perry who is also hugely successful). To harp on her actual age smacks of ageism and sexism. And, oh-by-the-way, 50 yr old Kidman herself has a 6 yr old daughter. Why are women so hard on women?

I think her specialty is playing annoying characters. Has anyone seen "Enlightenment" on HBO? It was only out for one or two seasons and then cancelled, but she was SO good in it - playing a super annoying woman.

Not to mention the fact that NK didn't turn 50 until after the series aired & LD turned 50 about a week before it aired so neither were "actually 50" (as is the poster's complaint) when it was filmed.

Of course, even if they were "actually 50" & playing mothers of 6-year-olds, so what? Not only are there 50-year-old mothers of first graders in real life, there are also plenty of mothers of first graders who are considerably younger than 50 but who look considerably older than either actress does in the series.

Add Emmy noms for best producers and lead actress to Kidman/Witherspoon's/BLL long list of accolades. Apparently no one else struggled while watching "old" actresses.
