Banned by whom? And who would enforce this ban?

Put some thought into it, you might be able to figure it out.

You haven't been paying attention. Our government has defunded the national parks.

Are the backcountry guides a legit business or not?

Legit in what sense?

Words are hard. Legit, accident….. What is skiiing? What’s next?

Maybe you should not be able to hang your shingle out to be able lead people to their deaths in mountains under avalanche warnings, or at all, since people are morons. Kind of like how you can’t run your own meth lab or run a restaurant out of your unlicensed kitchen.

Are they in the state of California or not? Why would CA want to issue these companies a business permit? They could shut it down.

Tunnel Creek (site of accident) is in Nevada.

Why? It would not stop people from backcountry skiing. People do it without guides all the time.

Put all responsibility on risk-taking skiers. No lawsuits allowed.

Skiing back country is by definition skiing with high level risk of avalanches.

It was the allure of the back country powder.

+1 Ignore the risks. Ignore the weather forecasts. Do what you want.

Outsmart the weather and snow drifts on the side of a mountain. Yeah. It all makes sense now.

I’m more intelligent and credentialed than this damn blizzard and avalanche risk report, let’s go!

But now they can do it without guides. Like skating on a half frozen pond. You don't see people running a business to escort people to ponds that will kill them. The skiers could have gone on their own but didn’t. There will still be idiots but fewer of them causing avalanches that could cause further damage.

Even in zero visibility and five days of high risk forecasts.
