This is why it was smart for Harris not to touch the Fox News debate with a ten-foot pole. If Trump is willing to bail on the ABC debate as it is, of course he would have bailed on the ABC debate as soon as the Fox debate took place.

I certainly don't think fox deserves a debate but even a debate on fox would not be able to save him.

If you looked at the substance of the first debate, after a shaky start, Biden did okay while Trump just blathered as usual. He won’t get away with it against someone younger, even regular people like us. Don’t forget that Harris did fine against Pence.

We don't need Trump and Harris putting on another embarrassing spectacle for the entire world, including out adversaries, to see. Why are our adversaries behaving as aggressively as they have been in recent years? They've witnessed the ongoing leadership weakness in the US since 2016 and are taking advantage of it. When you know that Trump and Netanyahu are conspiring to kill any ceasefire, and when you remember Trump’s obeisance to Putin, it seems more like a few despots going out of their way to accomplish some of their national goals while also giving the GOP a boost.
