NWLL baseball scandal

Election was postponed until 12/10 to give parents more time to digest information and be able to vote -- Special Committee report was just released a day ago, the voting process (for how many, what positions, etc.) was ambiguous, and the absentee vote process wasn't very clearly explained until last minute, and only upon request.

You know they would have gone forward if they thought they had the voted.

Important update from recent communications with Little League International (“LLI”) and the NWLL board:

1. The special committee’s report states that “LLI has also reiterated that Player 3 was eligible to play for NWLL.”

2. LLI confirmed today (by email) that this is not true and that it never validated or approved Player 3’s eligibility.
The special committee chair (Scott Anderson) agreed to correct this error, i.e., it was the District of Columbia Little League (DCLL), not LLI, who purportedly approved the inaccurate waiver.

3. The report states that LLI never told Davenport about the “chain of service” requirement “when he submitted the II(d) waiver for Player 3” (emphasis added).
LLI confirmed today (by email) that it doesn’t tell leagues about this requirement (they are supposed to know this rule).
Ricky Davenport has said he knows the waiver rules.
Scott Anderson agreed to correct this error, i.e., that the special committee meant to refer to DCLL, but again, the league is supposed to know the rules.

4. LLI confirmed today (by email) that it “base[s] eligibility on what is presented to us for verification, along with what was presented to the District Administrator at the beginning of tournament play at the district level (remembering II d waivers are handled at the local and district level)… if the player broke service, as stated above, a charter committee waiver would need to be requested - where the committee would review, and we would render a decision.”
Player 3 broke service in 2021.
There is no charter committee waiver for Player 3.

5. Player 3 was not eligible for a II(d) waiver because he “broke service.”
Because NWLL didn’t obtain a charter committee waiver, Player 3 was not eligible to play in NWLL in 2022.
He was required to play for CHLL, not against CHLL.
Sadly, player 3 pitched against CHLL in the semi-final playoff game and NWLL won. Davenport and Rico Bailey from DCLL are responsible for allowing Player 3 to play for NWLL.
We, as NWLL board members, apologize to everyone at CHLL for the cheating and the impact it had on your children.

6. Today, Scott Anderson removed himself from the Davenport/Sague/Quigley board and informed the board that he will not run for election in 2024.

7. Board members Misra and Quigley are lobbying the Board’s ballot committee to change the ballot (that has already gone out to the public) to eliminate the Fresh Start Slate.

NP. Weird that the people involved in this scandal don’t see how completely desperate and guilty this petty, defensive name calling makes them seem.

It sure is.

Cap city parent here, 2 kids played prob 10-12 seasons in total. NW cheating has been known for years, while very sad and in need of fixing, it's also laughable to those of us in other leagues who know of it, as NW never wins anything in the regional. Why keep Ricky and the rest of the cheaters when they can't even win on a unlevel playing field.

They are just stealing your money, NW parents. Question, how much does NWLL have in reserve cash? Bet it's not much. Vote them all out. And press charges if there are $ irregularities.

My kids Allstar team kicked their asses a few years back, was fun to watch even through the cheating we saw in that tournament. Saw the same cheating on the field this past season as we cheered on neighbors kids.

" We are NORTHWEST"? My ass.

You are just a bunch of shameless adults cheating little kids there in NW and throughout the city. Those involved should be embarrassed. Hope the DC investigation digs I to the $ too. It sure stinks as well.

Good for the whistleblowers.

This is the exact kind of win-at-any-cost dad response that enables the cheating. Dear lord are you this obsessed with little kid baseball? Man, c'mon, do better.

You’re kidding, right?

The PP. Cap City parent. Just two of hundreds who have posted to this thread who are obsessed with a child’s game. As if it’s actually important.

Seriously, just read the "Cap city parent" post directly above this thread. Enough said.

Um, the games are not, except that they should be honest.

The cheating however is incredibly important. Thats probably why the number two newspaper in the world spilled so much ink on it.

What you folks - the NW cheaters - did is indefensible. And your response to try and hide it and defend it is incomprehensible.

Shame on you.

That 2023 NW team hung 30 runs on the team cobbled together from Joint Base Bolling. A bunch of military brats just playing for fun. Totally classless. But, they’re Janney parents so not surprising.

Please. It’s you and all the other PPs who have made what used to be a fun kids’ game into a commercial enterprise that grown men obsess over and are willing to cheat on and litigate. You are ridiculous.

I used to play but pulled my kids when I saw what all the leagues in this area are like with the terrible parents. You should be ashamed you are still part of it.

Davenport “added that the decimal points included in Player 3’s score were intended to rank Player 3 between players of similar ability, in a manner that was reflective of Mr. Davenport-Thomas’ understanding of Player 3’s abilities and the abilities of the players ranked above and below Player 3.
Mr. Davenport-Thomas further noted that Player 3 improved throughout the spring 2022 season, becoming one of the best players in the Majors division.
Mr. Davenport-Thomas added that he was not aware that Player 3 had been a “top player” at Capitol Hill Little League (“CHLL”) and denied that he had created “fake draft scores” in an effort to conceal Player 3’s “true talent.”

Hey guys, what about the other set of higher scores Davenport had for player 3?
The ones he lost.
The ones he said he should have given the coaches…
How about the fact that Davenport and the kid’s dad work at DPR together?
Yeah, the one who drives the Lexus and Mercedes yet got his $1,900 hotel bill paid by Davenport and $2,500 of registration fees waived…

Report is a joke

Cap City parent here.
How about the Cap City kid that Davenport and Robinson registered in NWLL by checking the "other" school box to get around that GDS was a cap city school????
Think THAT shows intent?
You don't see that fact in the special committee report.
Left it on the cutting room floor with the prohibition on paying voting board members. Total whitewash

How about the $45K per year groundskeeper who was recorded saying "I know he cheated" or something like that? But then protected the King during meetings by yelling and cursing at the whistleblowers?
RELEASE THE RECORDINGS!!
