The memo for required summer training came out yesterday with the announcement that PDO would be open for registration at 4:30pm today. You would think they would have been prepared for heavy traffic at 4:30pm today. NOPE. I was one of the lucky ones and it took me 30 minutes to register for 2 trainings. Most people I know are getting the message that due to the high usage of the system they are unable to log in after 30 minutes of trying.
The dates for training and number of days of required training came out *yesterday*. People scrambled to figure out what dates would work for their schedules that have already been set. People worked with their teammates to figure out dates that worked for the team so they could attend training together. Now,*SHOCKER*, the infrastructure isn't there to support people actually signing up for the training. Issues like these have been happening way too often. Whether it's Outlook not working properly for MONTHS, the network being down frequently, the gradebook not working at the end of the quarter, or not being able to sign up for training at the time that MCPS set--how is OK that they are failing at their jobs without consequence but still expecting us to be successful at our jobs? --teacher |

Omg i literally just got this from MCPS:
As you may be aware, the Tier 1 and Salary Day registration opened this afternoon in PDO. Due to the high demand for registering for courses, the platform is experiencing some performance related issues. We are working closely with the vendor to get this problem solved. We apologize for the disruption this may have caused, and we will email you once the problem has been resolved. Funny only not funny. -Another teacher- |
| I just started laughing when I got the error. Anyone could have seen this coming a mile away. Every teacher in the system frantically trying to sign up for limited-space classes at the exact same time? |
Notice the pattern here? It’s always a vendor issue. Internet stopped working for an hour last month...we’re contacting the vendor. Outlook has been absolute HELL to use ALL YEAR...we’re working with the vendor. How about FIRIBG THE HEAD OF TECHNOLOGY ALREADY?! -Exasperated Teacher who’s sick and tired of MCPS technology not working properly. |
| And there is NO ONE who cares what teachers think. The county is going to have a bit of an issue soon I believe—so many teachers are fed up with the double standard. |
| Success, I think, after a mere 2 hours of login attempts and page refreshes. Way to go, MCPS. |
| Don’t worry, they’re working with “the vendor,” so it shouldn’t happen for at least another month! |
| I just had success also, but seriously, so unacceptable. And inconsiderate. I work a few different jobs over the summer that I've already committed to. I'm sure other folks have made summer plans as well. And it's ridiculous that they have limited space in these sessions - how beneficial is it if you sign up for something you can't use/don't want? |
| What a mess! One of my teammates and myself were finally able to register. Our third teammate kept getting the error message and was repeatedly kicked off PDO. As a result, we weren’t able to register for the same day. They should have staggered the registration somehow |
| WHY does everything have to be so last minute?! Argh! |
| Well, I finally got in but not for my preferred date. I plan to show up for the date I wanted anyway. This is ridiculous! |
| Can someone who was able to register for June 21 kindergarten reading tell me what the location is? |
| Who would we even complain to? It’s one big echo chamber. |
| I signed up for some elementary online math training and am struggling to understand how an online module that appears to have a nearly 2-week window for completion can be limited to just 50 per section. Why? And also, why would they offer CPI training that doesn't result in certification to use the techniques? How useless is that? |
They haven't listed any locations yet. They all say location TBD. |
