Because more people are coming into the labor force and looking for a job. This is a good thing, and it’s how unemployment is calculated. It’s not that more people lost their jobs |
Don’t think it’s all govt jobs. In fact govt jobs haven’t kept up with population growth in a long tim.

“In 2018, a colleague and I noted that left-behind counties that voted for Trump had not seen any net job gains the previous year. The new Economic Innovation Group analysis shows that, in terms of job growth, left-behind counties experienced three of their four worst years since the Great Recession on Trump’s watch.
“…But their recovery has been much stronger this time. Left-behind counties added jobs five times faster in the first three years of the Biden administration than they did in the first three years of the Trump administration." And yet, these people who have benefited directly from the BIDEN CHIPS act will be voting for Trump.

| Democrats hate middle class Americans. |
Thats why they target tax cuts to upper income Americans, and they do things like make health insurance, education and jobs accessible. I don't think you all appreciate how much this Administration has done for middle class Americans all the while, the only the the GOP does is strip away rights and pass tax cuts. How does that help middle class Americans? |
Nothing but contempt for US workers How else can you explain a policy to import millions of low wage workers to keep inflation down??? On the backs of workers wages |
The U.S. govt has 2.87 million employees as of 2022. That's greater than the strength of the People's Liberation Army of China at 2.54 million as of 2022 (wikipedia). China has 1.4 billion people. |
According to the most current data from OPM's Fedscope it's 2.2m https://www.fedscope.opm.gov/ibmcognos/bi/v1/disp?b_action=powerPlayService&m_encoding=UTF-8&BZ=1AAABnqzSwbN42oVOQW6DMBD8jJe0h0brhdBw4GBsoyC1kAbuFSFOFBUwIr7k9xVwSNtLZ7TSaHZGGq8s1mVVHHSm4puzo8nUExBdQ5GG2zSKpAx4kISURBhoLpQMXxVyXwDRszd1tTjI3V5UuxgobWzvTO_A0rNtT2aETQIB9nVnwFerfd181Rdz_9Td0Np7Z3q3go0CSofl8zv_SAHhCxCWZnCmO5oRCAnJn8qeKuVaFnmuZZUVeS7edfxv0Us_4jMi44jIOTLGkG2QEbKJjImL6Zs7EAKdgFC0LWD0ZpvaXW3%7Ex2ZAWyAfgQwHOgJFi8EfBpsB5E%7ExH_AzZ7WMmW_ZsOAbjjNqYg%3D%3D. That said, the lion's share of federal employment is DoD, VA and DHS. Outside of those three, the typical Cabinet-level agency and all of its sub-agencies combined has fewer employees than a typical large US company. |
