Who is your choice for Montgomery County Executive?

I work for Council and I am terrified that a particular current council member is going to win.

At this point anyone but Leggett. Maybe if you did a better job we wouldn't have so many issues.

As of now I plan to vote for Marc Elrich. Is he the one you're terrified will win?

Leggett isn’t running.

PP who said Elrich here-I am also going to look into Bill Frick. I dislike Berliner.

Elrich or Krasnow

Leggett isn’t running.

Thank goodness.

I’m not a fan of Elrich or Leventhal. Roger Berliner doesn’t thrill me either. I need to find out more about David Blair and Rose Krasnow.

Another "insider" here. I think I'll vote for Krasnow, but not 100% decided. Definitely no to Elrich and Leventhal.

OP, I assume your concern is with Elrich. That seems to be the popular sentiment.

I'm going with Krasnow. I'm not really interested in continuing with the three long term councilmen. Blair has no experience and Frick doesn't really want the job.

Fun note: when Krasnow was mayor of Rockville, they had no potholes. Other cities/towns would come to Rockville to learn how to properly manage roads.

Do people actively follow this? I've lived in Mo Co for 10+ years and was neither aware of an election nor could I name a single candidate. What is at stake? Why should I care?

OP here. I know many don’t follow politics. But local politics actually impact you faster and more personally than federal. School funding. The temporary energy tax we are all still paying. Pot holes as one PP mentioned. Although the cities and the state are responsible for their own roads here. Deer population management. Master plans for different areas like White Flint and Shady Grove. Dog parks and dog leash laws. The bag tax. Traffic. Road construction. Public transit. Crossing guards. These days - School security and safety. Who plows your roads when it snows and who picks up your trash. Minimum wage.

All that has to be managed well.

Anyone but Elrich. Even the former mayor of Takoma Park, who used to work with Elrich on the Takoma Park council and lives in the city, said he couldn’t endorse him. If you’re too radical leftist for the Takoma Park government..... I’m terrified he will win because he’s consolidating all the extreme liberal blocs and there are way too many establishment types in the running meaning their votes are going to be diluted.

Did you notice our massive property tax hike from last year? The idiotic monopoly that the county holds in liquor sales? Our crappy business climate that appears to only be getting worse? Local politics matter a great deal.

I know who I’m not voting for.

Blair has no experience.
Frick is a nonentity.
Leventhal has a nasty side and no leadership skills.
Krasnow has been involved in a lot of the planning choices I don’t care for and her mayoral experience is from a different political era.
Elrich is too far left and doesn’t think about consequences of his liberal actions.
Berliner is the best of the bunch but something about him rubs me the wrong way.

So I may skip that race and focus my energy instead on who to vote for in the CD6 race.
