Who Completes the GBRS? AART or Classroom Teacher?

| I know whose names go on the form. The point is whose opinion counts. The admin can't really have a valid opinion other than make sure that the work samples warrant the rating. |

I won't see our GBRS score until April, it's killing me slowly!

Principal here: it’s truly a group decision. I do know the kids and take the time to observe them in class. And I know the ratings scale. The AART and the teacher have their viewpoints as well. We ask each other questions about the child, and we look at the work together. We come to consensus and collaborate to write the comments using the exemplar statements for each category. |
Who drafts it first and who adds/edits...etc.? Just curious. Our school is very big and our principal is too busy and doesn't know students so I can't imagine her having a particular opinion or comments about a child. |
It’s written together while we’re all sitting there. Our AART projects the form on a screen and types while we ALL discuss and wordsmith it. I don’t know every kid in the same way either. |
Just curious - how many kids do you usually prepare packets for year after year? How much time is spent on each child? It must be a lot of work! |
