Help this minority achieve that WASPY clean polished look

Anonymous
I am an olive toned Pakistani thirtysomething woman. I am petite and thin but have wide hips.

I love the clean polished high end look of the waspy blonde white women.

How can I achieve a similar aesthetic with my skin tone and build?

Skin tone has nothing to do with it.

Well-fitting blazer, white button down, get pants that fit your hips well, ballet flats or heels. Pearls on ears. healthy, shiny hair, non-obvious makeup.

You want to look like a WASPY blonde white woman?

You got self-hate issues.

Pear shaped is hard to make look waspy!! Maybe go for a bit more of a 50s housewife look with a neat, belted A line dress and pumps?

Haha, so brunette WASPs aren't clean and crisp enough for ya OP?

If this is really the look you want, shop at Vineyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer and J. McLaughlin.

Good suggestion. It's all about clean simplicity. Solid slacks & skirts. Mostly solid, occasional printed tops. Classic, under stated jewelry. Dress for your shape though. Dressing like you have no hips will not make your hips look smaller.

Do have pictures of the look you like? Please post (or just dress like the picture).

I am a pear-shaped WASP. The 50s look (fit and flare) looks good on me, as PP suggested. I wouldn't say that looks crisp, though. Button-downs do not work on me. I wear a dress with a scarf, a shirt dress with collar, a dress with a blazer, or a suit with a knit shell. Stud earrings, necklace or scarf, nice watch. Heels or wedges, no flats for me. No cardigans, they look dowdy when you have curves.

I have several co-workers who are overweight and wear sheath dresses and skinny pants -- they just own it, and they look good. They have good hair, makeup, and accessories; their clothes fit even though they don't "disguise" anything. I don't like that look on me, maybe because I am only heavy on the bottom while they are more uniform. But my point is that you can look very put together without hiding your shape.

Figure out what colors and necklines look good on you, and buy a few high quality solid tops and cashmere sweaters.

OP, do you mean the look that is posted in the "new england yankee cool" thread?

That's what I think about when I think "clean" look.
