“In the Alabama Republican Senate primary runoff, a battle between scoring the president's backing and vigorously aligning with his agenda is coming to a head. For Maine Sen. Susan Collins, one of the most endangered Republicans in the Trump era, her toughest re-election yet is about to officially get a rival. And in Texas, two Democrats are tangling over the Senate nomination to take on the president's ally, Sen. John Cornyn, and help put the state in play for former Vice President Joe Biden at the top of the ticket.”

Gideon has won her primary in Maine. Now she gets the giant wad of cash that was raised for Collins’ eventual Democratic opponent in the wake of the Kavanaugh hearings. IIRC that’s at least $3M.

And Tuberville beat Sessions handily and will take on Doug Jones.

Yikes! Jones is going to lose.

Jones has a better chance against Coach Tuberville than he would have against Sessions. Still slim, but at least a fighting chance.

No. Go back and look at Moore vs Jones. 1.6 % difference. That's only because people held their noses to vote for Moore. Many stayed home.

Had Jones voted against impeachment and for Kavanaugh he might have had a chance to beat Tuberville.

Sessions would be a tougher out for Jones than Tuberville. It doesn't mean Jones will win. Just saying there is an outside chance.

Jones will have a tough climb no matter what but alienating 95% of Alabama Democrats by not voting to remove the President and voting for Kavanaugh wouldn’t have helped him win, either.

I wouldn't say "not a chance" - at some point, the people of Alabama are going to wake up to what the GOP has been selling them.

In most parts of the country, yes. Recall that Jones won by less than 2 points last time.

And this was the campaign’s tone-deaf response.
“The Tuberville campaign did not address the incident directly in its statement, but said Tuberville “helped mold the character of thousands of players, many of whom had not had the benefit of a father or positive male role model in their lives.”
