Is it possible she sees herself in Kathryn and therefore reacts so strongly to her? I think so. She is a well reputed gold digger despite her holier than thou air of just having waltzed off the Mayflower.

+1

It's shocking to me how obviously insecure she is about someone that is literally decades younger than her.

Pat was no worse to Kathryn than Kathryn was to Jennifer at the party.

I think she thinks Kathryn is trashy. I don't think she's jealous bc I doubt she would have wanted to be a single mother of two. She fancies herself much classier and smarter than that!

But Pat still socializes with Thomas who is just as trashy as Kathryn. The key difference being he is rich.

Fixed that for you.

I normally find Shep kind of entertaining, but this past week, he was simply pitiful. The way he behaves is something I would expect MAYBE from a college kid or a recent graduate, but this guy is 36 years old and he's drinking until he passes out while his "friends" from a bar/restaurant/wherever come over and completely trash his house? If he ever hopes to find a woman who will marry him, he needs to start acting like a responsible adult.

Wow. Tonight with Kenzie and Katherine was so sad. I hope Katherine really is still sober so that she can regain joint custody.

I must admit that I haven't watched this show from the beginning, and have only watched the last few episodes - but I've read this thread and repeatedly see comments about how Naomi (sp?) is the best thing to ever happen to Craig, etc. I really have to disagree with that - while she has the right to her frustration with him, she is so critical and immature in how she communicates with him. To say, "sometimes you exhibit loser behavior", and crap like that - how is that helpful? How does she think he's going to hear that?

She's nitpicking him to pieces and seems to have zero respect for him. She wants him to be a completely different person. FFS, just put both of them out of their misery and end the relationship already. I haven't been impressed with hue she's handled things at all.

Things were much sweeter between them in the beginning, so that's the bit you've missed seeing. I can get how coming in at this point that she looks like she treats him harshly. In her shoes though, I think I'd be quite frustrated with him as well!

I think the relationship with Craig brings out the worst in her. I agree with Craig that it rude of her to make fun of him in front of the group about the pescetarian comment. He claims the whole thing was made up, but even not, there is a difference between laughing with someone & laughing at them.

She is done with the relationship and, maybe subconsciously, trying to make it easier to get out.

This. Plus, it seems like they are both continuing with the relationship just so they can remain on the show. They are in a state of limbo.

Craig is also checked out. He's buying houses and not even consulting with his long-term, live-in girlfriend about these significant financial decisions. No way in hell I would do that without discussing about future plans with my long-term GF.

Craig and Naomie need to call it quits. It used to be that Craig would say rude/condescending things to Naomie, and now she is doing the same thing...but I think her frustration stems from the fact that when their relationship began, Craig at least seemed to have some ambition and drive to become a lawyer, and now that he's changed his mind and is going from embroidering to real estate investing to whatever he decides next, she isn't as attracted to him as she was before. She is obviously working hard in grad school and hoping to be gainfully employed, and I think she wonders if she would end up being the breadwinner in their relationship, as he flits from thing to thing.

The scene with Katheryn's little girl crying because she wanted to go home with her mommy broke my heart. I hope she will be able to see more of her kids soon.

What was up with Thomas in the scene where he was having lunch with J.D.? He seemed drunk as a skunk!! He was slurring his words and his eyes were all squinty; this is the man who is allowed to have full custody of his children?!

I just caught up on this episode. It was disgusting! Thomas should have just let Kenzie go with Kathryn. She was crying her little heart out for her mom. Brutal to watch. I think I'm done with this show.

I'm pretty sure he's not allowed to. He has to follow the legal orders too. I'm pretty sure she does not have custody and is required to have supervision during visits. He can get into big trouble not following the orders- basically he would be breaking the law and allowing his child to be in a dangerous situation.

I have been keeping an eye on every scene with JD this season and he has a drink in his hand in, nearly, every shot he is in. Whether it's in a red-solo-cup or a glass whisky glass. He seems to drink all day long.

Yup! He was showed up to the birthday party with a red solo cup. He was the only one drinking there. Thomas is definitely a lush.

I can't understand how he got full custody of those kids. He's a felon, a former coke dealer, he doesn't even let his kids live in his house with him. What he does have is money, privilege and the ability to manipulate and lie through his teeth without people questioning him.

Kathryn will never have a peaceful life with him unfortunately. I've seen situations like this, he will use the kids as pawns against her throughout every step of their lives.

Thomas didn't fail his court ordered drug tests. Katherine did. His past is not as relevant as her present addiction.

I believe she now presently has some custody, or at least unsupervised visits.

I know thomas... well. He is an alcoholic and I'm personally shocked he has custody. He has a major issue with alcohol. His money and privilege are going to keep those children as his little pawns. He's charming and nice on the outside but the real Thomas is a lonely, depressed, alcoholic who is forever looking for love and approval from his family who all view him as some what of a joke. The show is hard for me to watch at times. This weeks episode and seeing how devistating it must be for Katherine and her children broke my heart. I can only hope they are both able to lay off substances and take care of their kids the way the kids need to be cared for.

Thank you for warning me about the Kathryn scene before I pulled it up on the DVR. I'm not going to watch the show anymore - that seems like the official end of fun.
