Usha Vance - Fashion Thread

I think this would be cute on her because she has nice arms and red is a pretty universally flattering color.

This was kind of like her RNC dress but the neckline is more polished and I think navy would be a better color for her. And again, she does have nice arms and shoulders.

I don't LOVE this material but I really think shift dresses are her friend and I would love to see her in this type of color. Cool and bright. Saturated rather than the muted she prefers.

She seems to like jerseys and other drapey/knit fabrics so I think this would work for her. This also comes in black which I feel like is a good color for her but I do want to see her experiment with color.

These are both absolutely hideous. And that bright red would be a terrible shade on her. Someone with her skin tone can wear plum or a blue-based red.

Can we all just agree some people are a little mean to Usha and some people are a little too defensive of her? And then move on and go back to discussing fashion? This is the fashion board. Not the politics board or the Usha board.

Enough with the laser talk because several South Asian women have said it doesn't work that way and enough with the "You're just jealous" every time someone deigns to say she needs a tailor.

I liked when people were suggesting outfits she looked good in. That was fun.

That color is way too close to her skin tone. It would look awful.

DP. Here's an idea. Why don't *you* suggest some things that you think would look good? Rather than getting mad at PP? That would be fun and keep this conversation on track!

Horrible choices, especially that last jacket!! Are you trolling? The blue dress is a pretty color, but if she wore something like that, the usual haters would accuse her of being "dowdy." And the yellow in the first dress would be awful with her skin tone.

Why are you so upset over someone's suggestions. Like that person was being nice and you're freaking out.

OMG, these are terrible choices!

The navy is pretty and looks almost identical to a dress Usha already wore but in a better color for her. I think that's a fine choice. The red is too short.

DP. The navy is a terrible cut - way too long.

Agree with the first dress. Blue shirt dress and third outfit are not appropriate.

Blue shirt dress is totally appropriate for a casual event!

A BBQ maybe but otherwise inappropriate.

+1
And even if she wore it to a BBQ, we'd hear no end of "that was SO CASUAL!!!!" She's in a no-win situation.

Tell Usha that. It's true it is identical to the dress she wore to the RNC but navy instead of gray.

I'm not at all mad at the PP! How does saying the color is too close to her skin tone and would look awful make me "mad"?

Are you a sock puppet? You write "DP." at the beginning of each post the same way.

DP is simply to let you know I'm not the same person as the PP. For instance, I didn't make the bolded comment. I am a different poster. Get it? If everyone would do that, then we'd know we're not talking to the same person.

Doesn't change what it is, though. You can shout down and insult posters here if you want, but people all over are still talking about it. A better use of the energy is just to get a stylist for formal appearances and do better.

All this frantic defense to make her feel better just makes her look more out of place and thin-skinned. Sad.

The only people insulting others are those who are calling her ugly and stupid, and those who are mocking anyone who dares to say she looks great (which she does). Maybe consider it is you who is grossly out of place for so vehemently criticizing someone who actually looks perfectly lovely. Don’t you have some seams of your own to obsess over?

Yeah, no, I'm an intelligent woman with a real job, not just being wife to some dude. I have to actually do things. The only things she had to do anymore sre the ones she is really bad at --- witness this thread.

Enough said. Bless your heart. I bet you're the same poster who can't contain her derision over Kate Middleton.

Sorry, never posted about her. You certainly are sure about things when you are wrong.

Kate and Usha don't even have similar style?

Hey, I never mentioned Kate. That was on PP.

This is the first time I've seen the dress she wore under her pink coat. So pretty - I love that shade.
