No one is willing to say that.
NeverTrump was making a point that you would not get their votes, so calculate accordingly.
Problem was their numbers were too small and Trump supporters were too high.
Full Biden supporters are small in number.
No one will be mad if Biden is replaced at the convention. In 2016, Roger Stone was threatening violence.
Will there be any numbers declaring NeverBiden that would force people to say we must have a new candidate.

Right now it is Biden down just five in polls, and all the people calling on him to drop out they know will vote for Biden.

That’s why this power struggle is happening - whomever gets the nomination is getting the anti-Trump “will crawl a mile over glass to vote against that Orange f#ck” votes. It is actually a pretty easy race at the end of the day because Trump has a “very unfavorable” rating pushing 50%. In other words, he’s already hit his ceiling for support and the inevitable Dem candidate has more avenues to build a coalition of even soft supporters (assuming people show up to vote….which I think they will).

Removing Biden is far too risky for some reasons - legally, reputation of the party, respect for the ballot, etc.

I'm not really even sure what it is that is "happening" - I had a message about Joe stepping down show up in my Facebook feed tonight, sponsored by "Pass The Torch, Joe" - whoever that is. Thing is, there were hundreds and hundreds of comments on it saying "stay the course, Joe" and "ridin with biden" and "I'm with Joe" and "Biden / Harris 2024" and I only saw ONE saying "Biden needs to step down." It really has me thinking there isn't actually all that much popular support and is instead being promoted and orchestrated by a handful of wealthy elites / big donors / lobbyists. Whoever it is hasn't done a good job of testing the waters or gathering data.

I think the point you’re missing is that while Biden has a ton of supporters, it won’t be enough. Margins in presidential races are incredibly thin and Biden is not going to be able to energize the youth and independents. Yes, the die-hards will vote for him, but it won’t be enough.

It sure would be nice to have a presidential election that is a good old fashioned landslide rather than poll-driven incredibly thin margins. Then the next president might actually be able to accomplish something meaningful. Fire the pollsters, tell the truth, make a connection with voters and trust them to make a wise choice.

A landslide victory would require a moderate candidate. Unfortunately, we don’t have that on either side. I’m a lifelong democrat and the liberals have gone too far to the left even for me. I increasingly don’t feel particularly represented by the party but still begrudgingly vote for them b/c the other party’s worse. It’s pretty bad when you’re voting against DJT instead of for JB. There’s a huge difference.

Biden campaign: ‘He’s gonna beat Trump again, full stop’

Battleground State Director Dan Kanninen is confident Joe Biden is staying on the Democratic ticket.

“Biden is running. He is our nominee. He is our president,” Kanninen said during an appearance on NewsNation’s “The Hill.” “And he’s going to beat Donald Trump in the fall once again. Full stop.”

Kanninen said he’s aware that it’lll be a “tough and close” race but says their campaign is “designed to win a close race.”

The White House also denied media reports Biden’s family was considering exit plans, calling the reporting untrue.

The AP poll said that 60% want Biden to step down. Those are real numbers, not trolls, since the trolls all want him to stay on and lose to Trump. This isn't an elite organized coup. It is everyone coming to the realization that Biden cannot be the candidate. He has declined. He cannot do it.

Oh, because of an AP poll? Give me a break. Do you recall the Gallup poll in the first week in September 2008 - after the R convention- that showed McCain and Palin leading Obama and Biden by 10 points? I do. The polls generally suck and are often pushing an agenda.

Were you alive in 2008? The global economy took a massive dive into an empty swimming pool in mid-September, which explains why McCain / Palin - representing the incumbent party - ended up losing the election. Your example doesn’t tell us much about the accuracy of polls.

Who’s to say a worse calamity than 2008 isn’t in store for us between now and the election? You just never know what is going to happen, which is one reason why you don’t make decisions for November based on July polling. Having a reasonable process for candidate selection - based on many millions of votes in the primaries - is the best way.

Biden promises to return to campaign trail, pushes party unity as he resists calls to drop out of race

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/biden-promises-to-return-to-campaign-trail-pushes-party-unity-as-he-resists-calls-to-drop-out-of-race

WASHINGTON (AP) — A rapidly growing chorus of Democratic lawmakers called Friday for President Joe Biden to drop his reelection bid, even as the president insisted he’s ready to return to the campaign trail next week to counter what he called a “dark vision” laid out by Republican Donald Trump.

Biden said Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention showcased a “dark vision for the future.” The president, seeking to move the political conversation away from his fate and onto his rival’s agenda, said Friday he was planning to return to the campaign trail next week and insisted he has a path to victory over Trump, despite the worries of some of his party’s most eminent members.

“Together, as a party and as a country, we can and will defeat him at the ballot box,” Biden said. “The stakes are high, and the choice is clear. Together, we will win.”

Don't watch cable news": Biden campaign tries to rally staff

President Biden's campaign chair convened an all-staff call Friday and urged staffers to tune out news coverage that has focused on whether Biden will be pushed aside as the Democratic nominee, according to a recording of the call obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: The call is the latest example of Biden campaign leadership working to turn around the low morale among staffers in the aftermath of Biden's debate.
"Don't watch cable news all the time," chair Jen O'Malley Dillon told staff at the campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
"That is not the real world. The real world is the voters that are standing with us, the delegates that are with us, and we're going to weather this because of this organization."
What they're saying: O'Malley Dillon reiterated to staff that Biden is "in this race" and "in it to win it."

"I talked to him this morning – he sounds like sh*t because he's not feeling that well," she said, noting his recent COVID diagnosis.
"But he is doing the work, and he is focused on what you guys are doing."
O'Malley Dillon added that "the people that the president is hearing from are saying: 'stay in this race and keep going and keep fighting, and we need you.'

"Those voices will never be as loud as the people on TV, but remember that the people in our country are not watching cable news. They just aren't."

He tried his best! 🙄🙄

I just reas that the Biden camp is telling staff to not watch the news.

That…..is not a winning strategy, FFS. This team is clueless. I still hope he steps down.

I'm not seeing anything even remotely like 60% in my social media circle. Most are for staying with Biden.

I need to see a lot more polling along with what specific questions were asked, what demographics, what methodology and so on.. And follow it up with what alternative candidates vs. Trump. Because right now it feels off.

We must have different social media circles and friends. 99% want him to go.

Wow, shame on her. I will never trust her again. She was too liberal for me, but I grew to appreciate her outspokenness. She and Warren (who I loved) and Bernie (who I hated) are a total disappointment. They lost their independent streak.
