Official Kamala Harris VP Thread

Walz is great but what does he bring electorally? Minnesota isn’t a swing state. It’s a lot like Trump picking someone from Indiana or Ohio.

The working man small town aspect he's a vet and an educator . He'll appeal to those voters who do live in swing states.

Hearing more talk about Mayor Pete as a potential VP.

No one is talking about Mayor Pete as a potential VP. He's a very talented politician with a bright future, but Indiana is not in play, and a Biden cabinet secretary is not a big add to the ticket. If he's being vetted, it's out of politeness.

+1

I have heard his name come up multiple times.

In popular opinion polls, yes, due to name recognition and general likability. He's on zero political insider lists.

Strange take. Isn’t public opinion what really matters in the end? What difference does it make who political insiders like if voters are the ones ultimately making the choice?

I’m not necessarily saying Buttigieg should be the pick—he has his flaws too—but when polls say voters have a strong favorite, shouldn’t we be paying attention and giving that careful consideration?

I’ll be honest, and I *really* hate to say this: The fact that Walz is a longtime educator scares the hell out of me. If just one former student comes out of the woodwork and claims the Walz did something wrong (true or not) the ticket is finished. Absolutely finished. It would be enough to make me cross him off the list.

I don't think he will appeal to people on the fence. WOC is already close to being a bridge too far, and then you add a gay VP, and it pushes them over the edge. Pretty much all the other options are safer.

I feel more anxious than excited. The pick is going to make it break this election . Praying that they don't screw it up.

This. Right or wrong, my mom and many I know are basing their vote on VP pick.

Curious—what part of the country are they from and who do they like or not like?

You're probably young enough to not remember John Edwards.

Lol. It’s been a long time since anyone said I was too young for something that happened when I was well into my adult years.

I don't think anyone opposed Shapiro because he's Jewish it's his specific actions over the Gaza War protests that could cost valuable votes.

+1 Specifically on Gaza, and student protests, his record is not great. Since we need youth and Arab American voters, he would be a risky pick not to mention he has only been governor for a minute.

Most outlets saying it’s down to Kelly, Shapiro, or Walz.

Kelly (and to a degree Shapiro) has risen in popularity among all the undecided voters.

Kelly for the slam dunk

Walz a solid choice

Shapiro is a mistake

Kelly and Walz would be better choices if they looked a little younger. For some reason both appear older than their age.

No they don't. They look like the 60 year old men they are..
Seasoned looking is good.
Babyfaced has people thinking too young and inexperienced not capable of being presy
