Hate to ask this but what could I do to lose 20 lbs in 2 months?

Anonymous
I know I know most will say I ned to take a sensible approach but we are invited to a really major event mid April and I REALLY want to lose 20 lbs. I am for the first time very motivated to do so. don't have great willpower but when I get into it I am generally pretty good about doing it.

Its not a lot of time....any ideas or tips for someone who is not great at dieting?

Eat as little as possible and exercise a lot.

What's your current weight? It's way easier to get from 200 to 180 in 2 months vs 140 to 120.

Log your food for a couple of days. And be honest with portion size. It gives you a big insight into what to cut out.

Hire a trainer who can device a meal plan. My friend just lost 23 pounds in 2 months. She was 230 to begin with and did a MAJOR dietary overhaul and workout plan. But she wouldn't have been able to do so without having someone come up with the plan.

Use a child's divided plate for portion control
Cut out sweets, treats
only coffee water or tea to drink

Why not aim for 10 instead of 20, you're not gonna go from not dieting/exercising to magically losing 20 all of a sudden.

Pretty much this. A healthier approach: weight watchers, 15,000 steps a day/ 1 hr work outs 5 dats a week.

Well I lost around 15 pounds over 3 months and here's what I can share:

Don't starve yourself or drop under 1200 calories per day, but do create a calorie deficit plan and stick with it. There are lots of calculators online that can help with this:

https://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html

Don't drastically alter your activity level right now because it will leave you feeling hungrier than just dieting alone and you'll be tempted to eat more.

Combined with the calorie deficit, I had luck with intermittent fasting (where you go 12-16 hours without eating) about twice a week. On those days I fasted from dinner until around noon the next day, and I believe this helped me reach my goal on time, though I still counted calories religiously. Eat lots of protein, fat, complex carbs, and veggies to fill you up, stay away from refined carbs and sugar. Cut out alcohol, sodas, and anything you add to coffee or tea. Spread out your meals throughout the day (on the days when you're not doing intermittent fasting). Have a few go-to snacks that are 100-150 calories, and meals around 400 calories on hand or quick to prepare. Always take snacks with you when you leave the house so you won't be tempted due to hunger. When I was dieting I also made a lot of savory soups and stews with veggies, beans, and meat. The liquid/broth in the soups make you feel more satiated than just eating the same amount of calories in non-soup form. And chew sugarfree gum to help with hunger...you will feel hungry the first week while your body adjusts. Good luck!

I lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks. I had a normal BMI (22). I did 21 day fix. It is eating clean, portion control, and daily 30 minute workouts. I think the clean eating helped the most. I too wanted to slim down for an event. Good luck.

Haven't tried intermittent fasting, but I have lost 20 lbs. in 2 months before, and I agree with PP - especially the bolded parts.

- Don't start exercising, you'll just be hungrier. Focus on calorie deficit.
- Stock your house with low calorie snacks like yogurt, SkinnyPop popcorn, baby carrots, etc.
- Drink lots of water, you'll probably lose between 3-5 lbs. of water weight just from that
- Focus on lean proteins and vegetables for your meals. Replace white carbs with vegetables where you can, e.g. instead of chicken with broccoli and rice, do chicken with broccoli and a salad.
- No empty calories. No alcohol, no soda, no dessert.

It's tough, but doable. Good luck!

Keto diet. It's hard, obviously, but always the fastest way to drop weight in a short time.

I disagree. If you really go intense on the diet and exercise, the beginning when you go from sedentary to balls to the wall exerciser plus clean eater/starver is exactly when you will drop weight the quickest. When you get to the point that you can no longer sustain that mentally and/or your body and metabolism adjust, that's when it gets really hard.

But then again, I'm not talking about a "magical" way to drop the weight.

OP, just keep in mind that however you do it, it's not going to be a weight loss that is sustainable and you will probably gain it back quickly. Which may be ok for you and worth it for this event. Just go in aware.

Not neccasarily. If op loses the weight early, but doesn't go nuts on vacation (I know), she could maintain the loss.
