Yay, RAE guy can still get his plastic trophies. |
I guess you miss those blowout scores that happen all too often. It's the biggest problem in closed, club-based leagues. Not every age group is as talented. |
College coaches said they don't care what your age group is only that you can attend the school. Clubs don't have the capacity to collect and police grade info. You are just rambling the same stuff without any new info. |
I dont agree but it doesn't matter because clubs wont allow Aug birthdays playing down on A teams. Clubs will say that your kid didn't make an A team but they're welcome to play on the grade down B team or grade correct B team. They know which one you'll choose. |

Sigh ... We go around-and-around-and-around-and-around ...
|
Back to ignoring what people are telling you again I see... ECNL wants kids in their age groups [/b]but have advised its clubs to allow grade alignment if that means players have to play up.[/b] They don’t want kids the grade behind playing up if they are not a top 5 player on the older team. |
Except, there's that one club that had the whole elaborate process of applying for an age group and trying out AND if you didn't like the results, you could go back the next year. Another example that you shared that didn't prove your point at all. |
Youth sports has always been about RAE and plastic trophies, even for boomers. RAE is a huge factor in determining who quits and who moves up. It's why Q1 BY so pissed and Q2 annoyed going to SY. |
I agree that process wasnt necessary. Its much easier for clubs to just ask players grade in school during tryouts like Arlington did. |
Any evidence or just an uninformed old man suffering from the Dunning Krueger effect? |
Well that doesn't explain this view from an ECNL club: From page 15 of their presentation: "School Grade is Irrelevant: It is much easier to consider the new age-group placement as relative to the August 1st cutoff and is not tied to their school grade level (whether they have been held back or are ahead)." Page 19 "Can players play up a grade level? SURVEY - Playing Up SBV will retain the same policy we’ve always had: A player may play up an age group only if they make the top team in that older division. ❖ Exceptions: Exceptions are rare and reserved for specific Goalkeeper situations or to combine two small player pools to form a viable team. Why we aren't delaying the changes: ❖ We have chosen to "rip the Band-Aid off" rather than kick the can down the road. ❖ While we could artificially keep current teams together by moving everyone to an older age group, we would eventually be forced to fix it. ❖ We believe it is better to realign correctly now. This avoids years of confusion and temporary fixes, ensuring every player is on the correct long-term development path immediately" https://storage.googleapis.com/msgsndr/YNEbnN...173966b1e3b3b9c2.pdf |
I dont agree and there's studies that show in America because of p2p club soccer. Rae isn't that much of a factor. |
Advised to allow = have some case by case flexibility. Whatever. |
No, it's just how you see those studies. The best one that would support your view isn't peer reviewed and doesn't acknowledge the change from SY to BY, among other potential flaws. |
