ECNL is going to allow U18 juniors to play in U17 showcases. U18 seniors who are grade ahead of age but age eligible for U17 will be allowed as well but recommended to play U19 with seniors as often as possible.

College freshman as well as high school seniors who meet U19 age requirements will be allowed to play all year long. So no reason to be held back as you can still play in college.

Teams have to have space for them to play. So if you’re u17 team already has 20 players, how do they tell those girls that more will be playing with you at a showcase?

That’s between the clubs and the parents. My daughter’s ECNL team has 30 on the roster and only brought 20 to the showcase. The others either do not play or goto RL showcases.

Not the poster.

Also by junior year spring season top players have committed so no need to bring them to a showcase.

No such thing as a “top” player going to play college.

Top playrers are the ones that get picked early/first by college coaches.

They will commit to a top school and then make a decision a year later to go pro, sure maybe for 3-5 but the rest go to college champ

From my daughter's ECNL club

If the age range does not match the typical school year of a respective player, RAGE will consider playing a player up a year to provide consistency in school year placement, assuming it is supported by the social and soccer development assessment of the player. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis and in consultation with the family.

The secret clubs aren't telling you is if you dont choose to play on the team thats your kids grade they wont be able to play on the lower grade A team.

This has been proven to be false by previous posters. Remember, clubs don't know or care about grades unless parents make a request to play up based on grade.

Considering the history of this thread, if I could post a meme, it'd be from that Mad Max remake where Max says: "That's bait"

No its the truth at least where I live. Clubs are putting younger players on the team thats their grade. This seems normal to me. Why would you want your kid on a team where everyone is a grade below them? It would screw up playing in college.

Heres a very good link from an ECNL club thats being open and honest with players about the BY to SY change thats happening this fall. They even go into the history behind the change describing why its happening and what to expect.

Look Familiar?

Every week brings us closer to this fall. As this happens more and more clubs will be forced to "come clean" and be honest with players and parents.

Right now we're starting to see tryout definitions get more clarity from geos that haven't gone through tryouts yet.

The next phase is posting rosters after tryouts with players graduating year listed.

Writing is on the wall.

Yes, it's different in different places and parents and kids have lots of choices, thankfully. What's ugly is when people try to snow plow their opinion as the right or only way.

Also, Happy Easter.

Hahaha "snowplow opinion"

I prefer the term "forced reality"

And reality is going to continue getting more and more black and white.
