Clubs wont allow to teams to have Aug misaligned players playing down on them. Its that simple, fight it all you want. Not having misaligned players playing down makes things much easier for clubs to manage. You might see clubs guesting Aug /Sept players on grade down teams for wins at tournamants but this would by one off situations |
Personal attack. |
OR you might see clubs do the opposite -- as long be speculated/debated on here -- roster by age and showcase by grade. |
College Coaches recruit by graduating year ECNL groups by age but allows younger players to play up End result is ECNL SY is like GY because younger players can play up but without the holdbacks playing down. (like you'd see in high school sports) |
So nobody forced to play on grade, it could be an option for some clubs letting players play up with friends on lower level teams. This has already been covered in club postings. Nothing new. |
Fine for some until that misaligned player who initially wants to play on grade is asked to join the B team because of even older players coming down and realizes the only way to be in ECNL vs. say RL or USYS is to go to the younger team. |
If the league goes by calendar age, why would some clubs group by grade when they won't be able to roster kids who are older than the age cutoff? |
What post said clubs are forcing grade year? You are misreading again. |
What does friends have to do with club travel soccer? Which coach of a high performing team wants lesser players forced upon them because of play-dates |
That wont happen because ECNL posts players graduating year in their player profiles. It would show a grade older player playing on a grade younger team. What you could do is dual roster on both teams. But I wouldn't expect a player playing league on a grade down team to suddenly tear things up at a grade up showcase. Also I wouldn't expect grade down players or parents to be happy about a player on a grade older team playing down at showcases and stealing their minutes. |
That is what the correct grade in school B team is for. |
Except you might see a player tear it up at a showcase if that younger team is competing for a national title. There's all sorts of levels even within ECNL. It's all about getting minutes and competition. |
Why need grade alignment for a B team? No college recruiting happening there Kids don't even go to the same school or live in same neighborhood |
Unless they're good enough to play on the A team on age. National vs. regional platforms for kids might be all the difference vs. worrying about grade. |
Nobody is fighting anybody being forced to play down, other than MLSN1 nobody allowed to play down. Everything else is age, 8/1. About 20 percent of kids will be off grade because of school holdbacks and kids playing up regardless of grade. Only way to avoid misaligned players with grade and age is to go grad year. That didn't happen. Showcases will go grade year though. Tracking grade makes this impossible for clubs, there are no approved/certified grade documents. |
