So, this teeing up to be quite the issue in the fall. Apparently this rezoning is for BETTER SCHOOLS and a BETTER SOCIETY.

People love it when you tell them what you are entitled to do with their children to make society better. That is a real winning formula.

The pride cometh before the fall. Seems that the school board believes it can act with impunity. Looking forward to working to prove them wrong.

Why should Democrats expect to "fall" for acting like Democrats in a majority Democratic county? That's stupid.

DP. I wouldn’t assume all Democrats are cut from the same cloth. NoVa Democrats are fairly centrist by nature and not to be confused with the Berkeley/SF variety. The School Board is well to the left and no one really cares or pays much attention unless they do something out of the ordinary, which would include major county-wide boundary changes. At a time when people are already feeling unsettled, that will not go down well if that’s what they end up doing.

Different story if they do just tinker at the edges or primarily adjust some ES boundaries. It’s changing the MS and HS assignments that are more likely to really piss people off.

Are you kidding?

Nova democrats are nowhere near the center.

They are very far left, particularly at the local level.

Talking about those who traditionally vote Democratic, rather than the party folks. Yes, the party types have moved very far left.

But if you want to talk about voters, Democrats in Fairfax tended to be Clinton types, and the Republicans were more pre-MAGA Rubio/Romney types. Rather different from what we've ended up with on both sides - the center has been getting eviscerated.

I just saw that - doubling down on the idiocy, I see! WOW.

Not necessarily a post to take at face value as it could be satire from a right-wing poster.

Go read the social media of some of the Dem activists on the Boundary Committee. Doubtful that this was from a right-wing activist.

I doubt it.

Our neighborhood moms FB page exploded into that kind of crazy, far left rants, from friends and neighbors posting with their names attached. It resulted in 4 spin off pages: a no politics page, a resistance political page, a pro DEI page, and a "welcoming and inclusive" page for only people with left wing beliefs created by the person who unilaterally decided to make the page political, then got upset when a half a dozen people called her out (among hundreds of left wing posts like the one above, the dozen or so posts asking people to be kind were virulently attacked.)

I always thought that kind of crazy left wing stuff was libs of tiktok trolling to stir up people, until I saw it on our large community moms page from hundreds of people in our community posting similar posts or worse from their identifiable facebook profiles, while talking simultaneously about how kind and inclusive they are compared to everyone else.

Based on the implosion of our community moms page, I suspect that post is NOT right wing satire.

They are not the ones who care whether the boundaries change. Though there are some who will get a kick out of people crying about having to live what they've voted for.

Stupid is forgetting the lessons from Terry mcauliffe’s loss just three short years ago. You may wish the boundary agenda was popular, but it isn’t popular even in deep blue Fairfax. Frankly, it’s this boundary crap that threatens reversion back to purple and red. Anyone who ignores that reveals herself to be a stooopid 🤡.
.

Most voters in Fairfax either will not be affeected by a boundary change, or will not be aware because they don’t have school age kids.

Yet many more are watching, and might even be affected by federal job cuts.

Many voters will be affected by the boundary changes as property values and home prices fall. Especially for those who lost jobs and now need to move somewhere else to find work.

Won’t some home prices go ip as well? I read that on this thread a few pages back.

Idk but my property taxes went up 10% and my zoned pyramid (which we love) would make DCUM clutch their pearls. In fact, DCUM regularly uses my pyramid as a negative example.

I really don't know. I do know that plenty of folks who regularly vote for Democrats are not going to continue to do so if this School Board imposes county-wide boundary changes that are driven by vague equity considerations, and insulting them and calling them closet Republicans will only increase their sense of alienation from the Democrats who currently control the SB and BOS.

It's satire to say that the Democrats should act according to what is good for the collective when they get elected, instead of embracing the Republicans' "I got mine sucks to be you" attitude?

We have a prime example: our favorite boundary committee member.

Yeah, maybe. The whole "collective" thing sounds a bit like a caricature of old-school communism.

Yes. The masses get bread crumbs while the oligarchy gets caviar.
