FCPS comprehensive boundary review

At the school board work session, Representative Dunne just said that he expects every high school pyramid to be impacted by the review, and the consultant concurred.

The changes will likely be much broader than the frequently discussed possibilities on DCUM.

Is it because the capacity vs enrollment among the pyramids is so uneven?

Is there a single high school pyramid without a split feeder or out of pyramid AAP feeder?

Yes, OP, that’s what comprehensive means. They have always said they wanted to look at the whole district. That’s why the Great Falls posts about how the Board wants to stick it to them and their relentless focus in themselves has been so frustrating.

Well, OK, but there’s been very little demand for wide-ranging boundary changes, so the process seems driven by the desire to give the School Board cover if they make the changes that they really want to make.

We can wait and then watch you complain, too, when you’re swept up in the crossfire.

Yes.

There is no high school that doesn’t get kids from at least one elementary school that is a split feeder.

West Potomac also has those gnarly attendance islands at Groveton and Fort Hunt, but those would only impact elementary school assignments, not middle or high school.

Riverside is a center and Sandberg is the middle school center for MVHS and West Potomac, but Riverside is within the bounds of MVHS and not West Potomac

There is a single road, Napper Rd, which is zoned for Riverside ES and then goes to Sandburg/West Potomac. If they adjust that single road, then West Potomac and Mount Vernon would not have any split feeders.

Yes. As I said earlier, Riverside is a split feeder to Mount Vernon and West Potomac.
