Going (Mostly) Makeup Free at Work

I haven't always had the best skin and early on in my career I got in a habit of wearing foundation, powder, blush, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss everyday. I am starting a new job shortly and think I want to make the jump to just wearing eyeliner/mascara/lip gloss. I am worried I'm going to feel unattractive or not put together, which I know sound silly. Any one make the same transition?

After years of smoky eyes, I've switched to a different look: dark red lips, defined eyebrows, mascara and nothing else. The reason I am now able to pull it off is that my skin looks great - even and unblemished (for years, it was not so). Right now, my complexion is good enough to count as makeup.

I've always never worn makeup. I use chapstick and sunscreen. That's it.

Dabbing the foundation to fade out blemishes a bit, then lip stain.

Eyeliner is fine, no mascara.

Try the above, you should look quite naturally beautiful.

Cool - why did you answer this thread then? That's not was the OP was asking.

I do the same thing now Because if I get into the habit from day 1 with full makeup, inevitably there will eventually come a day where I don't have time, get lazy, or just don't want to. Then people will remark about my red skin or how tired I look.

I used to be very into makeup, it was a fun but expensive hobby, and then took a year off from wearing almost any at all day to day. I had to get used to the way my face looked without makeup and it took a while but now I never do more than eyebrows, mascara, a tiny bit of concealer on my redness, finishing powder, and a lip. And that's on date night. I'm much happier now being able to like what I look like in the mirror first thing in the morning.

I've worn make up on and off, and I have far from perfect skin. I'm sure some people think I "need" makeup, but I could care less.

OP, try it for a week. You can always go back to wearing makeup if you don't like the more minimal look.

That looks so weird on women and makes the eyes look smaller. If you’re trying to cut down on products then skip the eyeline and just do mascara.

PP are your lashes light color?

I like to experiment with my makeup and love trying out different bold looks. However, as an RN in a hospital, I would look a litt!e silly wearing a full face. I use a tinted moisturizer, a lipstain and tinted lip balm, and mascara. It took awhile to feel comfortable being more bare faced, but I'm happy I did it

I gained a new confidence and appreciation for my natural look. I've always been fortunate to have great skin.

That said, I never leave the house without mascara on. I have soft brown eyelashes and I hate how washed out I look without mascara on.

OP here - what tinted moisturizer do you use? I've been thinking about using that too ... but I have darker olive skin, so it is so hard to find the right color match.

If you must, you must. But mascara is a huge look-changer especially if your lashes are light color. In this case, you are made up, and not "natural." Which is fine.

The OP is going nearly no-makeup, so mascara is the first thing to go. Eyeliner if shes uses any, should be applied lightly (pencil), never those liquid harsh black liner.

+1 unless you have naturally thick dark lashes - not many do - then this is bad advice.

How is eyeliner more natural than mascara?
