| I've been on 3 Disney Cruises and I just booked a 4th. There are some things I really like about it: easy check in, kids clubs, clean areas, family friendly entertainment. On my last cruise I found the staff to be a little more stressed, and the pool too crowded. A fluke or is Disney Cruise Line slipping a little? What do you love and not love about taking a Disney Cruise? |

I am pretty much same as you.
We disliked the crowded pool. My kids loved the Aquaduck but to me, the long line for it was really annoying (and neither were tall enough to go alone). My boys liked the kids club. I loved the nightly shows, but the late dinner seating was too way too late for my young family. I wish there was some other option at your convenience. The rooms were a good size, I thought and I liked the curtain separating two areas. I liked the Disney theming and the characters. We all really liked Castaway Cay. The free movie theater playing current Disney releases was cool! I would do it again. |

We've taken two Disney cruises and we truly enjoyed both. We love the clean ships, the friendly crew, the servers who rotate with you, the evening shows, etc. We enjoyed the excursions and had a blast at Castaway Cay. While we aren't Disney people, we enjoyed the enthusiasm of the Disney cruisers. We participated in the Fish Extenders groups, FB groups, etc. We wore Disney t-shirts on the first day, and we dressed up a bit for pirate night. We also enjoyed the fireworks.
The only thing we dislike is the price. The prices are outrageous. As a family of six requiring two cabins, we've been priced out. Our upcoming 7 night southern Caribbean on RC is far less expensive than our last 4 night Disney cruise (both were over spring break/same peak time). The problem is that the rabid Disney fans are willing to pay ridiculous prices, and that drives the cost up. I'm curious if prices will come down on their older/smaller ships when the two new ships are launched in a couple years? We actually prefer the smaller ships (less crowded). |
Why didn't you do the early seating for dinner? That's what we do: early dinner followed by the evening show. |
Agree with the price. It's arguably not affordable to the middle class. |
Can you tell how much you paid and for how many nights? |

We like the fact that everyone can do their own thing- kids in kids clubs while adults hang by the pool or see a movie, and then we could all do stuff together. Also liked that it worked for multi generations. And liked some of the shows.
But after three cruises we began to get bored. On days when there was a Port we didn’t want to visit there wasn’t much to do on the ship, especially when they closed a pool of a kid had an accident, which happened often. On and the price. Way to expensive. And the food- not particularly good. |

I’ve only been on one cruise ever, and it was the Fantasy (eastern Caribbean.) Overall I was impressed, especially with the ship, staff, and food. My kids (6&9, who love WDW) were not that impressed with the kids club and would ask to go for a specific 30 minute activity and then call to be picked up. The staff were supervising the kids, but not really engaging them. It was one of the things I was most looking forward to and ended up not really being a benefit to us.
I also did not like how the pool/Aquaduck and many other activities were not open until the afternoon on port days. One port we had an afternoon excursion and we were bored to tears all morning. Since my kids are older, I think we’ll try Norwegian or Royal if we cruise. |
| Anyone send their 3 year old to the kids club? |
Either the show or the dinner was going to be too late for us. I decided i wanted us to see the shows. |
For future reference, lots of people dressed their little ones in pjs for the later show. While some kids fell asleep, most kids stayed awake (the shows are quite good and very engaging). Even with older kids, we still prefer the early dinner seating. Everyone is hungry by 5:30. 8pm is too late for most people to eat. |
| I’ve been on one Disney cruise that we won (translation: got for free) and while we enjoyed it, I’d never pay their outrageous prices. We’ve also cruised on RC and Carnival and I honestly don’t think the Disney cruise experience is any better. |

For those curious about prices:
The next cruise my family of 5 is taking (2 adults, age 3, age 6, age 11) is costing us 9,104.00 for a 7 night in a verandah room. |
It cost our family of 5 $4000 for a 3 night (PP above) |

My kids love to swim so we considered a Disney cruise but when I read about how crowded the pools were, they sounded so unappealing. Then I saw this photo online--what was Disney thinking building such tiny pools?
