| As a Christian, I'm really appalled by all the excuses these so-called Christian people are coming up with, especially the ones using the Bible. I'm also disgusted how Christian leaders are silent on this issue, not about condemning Moore per se since they shouldn't make a comment on allegations, but about how these so called Christians are using the Bible to excuse this disgusting behavior. It's no wonder why so many Americans are turning away from Christian churches. |
That cognitive dissonance of yours may be giving you a stroke, pp. The fact that the paper was not approached is part of what gives the story credibility. You should always be skeptical of someone who comes to you with a story to tell -- they have a hidden agenda, an axe to grind, etc. In this case, they went and asked these women about their stories and corraborated with 30 other people that it happened. The fact that the paper did the approaching is part of the credibility of the accusations, not the opposite. |

Haven't seen everything on this story, but is there a paper trail to the woman's allegations? I'd think this would be important. |
Here is a good short summary of the charges against Moore:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/paloma/daily-202/2017/11/10/daily-202-as-roy-moore-declines-to-step-aside-a-tale-of-two-republican-parties-emerges/5a04e1dd30fb045a2e002f77/?utm_term=.763ca40bf9f8 He sounds like a complete dirtbag. |
Why isn’t Moore suing for defamation if the claims are not true? |
Correct. Moore was a Democrat until 1992. |
No paper trail what-so-ever? |
She told friends about it right after it happened and told her mother some years later and they have comfirmed her account. And she has not changed the details of her story over numerous discussions with the reporter. That sounds convincing to me. Why would all these people lie? This woman voted for Trump. Why would she make herself vulnerable to attacks from Moore apologists by telling a lie? |
There will be Moore stories. |
It never really was. Watching the Vietnam documentary these last few weeks, it's somewhat nauseating to realize that "the moral majority" has always been a PR gimmick to camouflage some outrageously immoral policy and beliefs. Republicans have been using it for more than half a century. I think the reason so many of them are falling in line behind Trump (or walking away - or running if you're Jason Chafetz) is that they've all got dirt that someone, somewhere uncovered. And that's why they don't want to let Roy Moore in the clubhouse. They've got enough trouble without someone who doesn't even have the sense to keep his mouth shut and lay low. |
Um, all Democrats? |
The primary accuser is a Trump voter. |

The latest horrible and twisted logic is that the Bible says that "even if it were true it's OK because Joseph was older than Mary" -
Again, his twisted logic and grotesque lack of understanding of US law in that it does't actually have anything to do with Biblical law, given that 7 out of the Ten Commandments aren't against any US law. US law is based on a combination of US law and Common Law, which comes from English Common Law which also isn't based on the Bible. He claims to be a "rule of law" guy but 14 is below the legal age of consent. |
Can you please post the source of that? |
It is in the big Post article that has been referenced 1,000 times in this thread. Maybe you should finally read it? |
