I'm amused by the pretzel logic that Republicans are using to stand by their guy. Paranoid conspiracies, twisting biblical passages, and demanding "proof" of the allegations. "Fake News" and questioning the Post's investigating (even though the allegations are supported by about 30 pepole). You're guy -who was charged with upholding the law and held positions of trust-is a pedophile. You're not entitled to "proof". You didn't wait for "proof" before criticizing Weinstein and others as "liberals" who engaged in sexual assault. Many threads about that and about whether Democrats "condone" such behavior from liberals. You own it. You own Moore. And if you place his election ahead of these allegations, you are not the part of "family values" or morals. You haven't been for a long time but this cements it. Party over integrity. Just pick up your 20 pieces of silver and be done with it.
+1 The GOP is no longer the party of family values, of strong fiscal responsibility or any other attributes espoused by Ronald Reagan. The GOP is now the part of defending pedophiles, blowing up the budget and codifying an Oligarchy in the mold of Putin's best Russia.
It never really was. Watching the Vietnam documentary these last few weeks, it's somewhat nauseating to realize that "the moral majority" has always been a PR gimmick to camouflage some outrageously immoral policy and beliefs. Republicans have been using it for more than half a century. I think the reason so many of them are falling in line behind Trump (or walking away - or running if you're Jason Chafetz) is that they've all got dirt that someone, somewhere uncovered. And that's why they don't want to let Roy Moore in the clubhouse. They've got enough trouble without someone who doesn't even have the sense to keep his mouth shut and lay low.
