You might want to check how few people voted. |
Only 700 new students this year and 4000 new free and reduced lunch students. There will never be enough money with this kind of demographic shift. |
Well. If the tax plan passes and we can no longer write off our property taxes AND the 5.75% to Virginia then what?
Maybe the feds will send back Obama's minors- legal presence here thanks to Obama. Note CHIP funding. My Fairfax County well is dry. |
That's on you. Guess you don't speak for too many people. |
Yeah - it was called a Meals tax. Same A-holes were against this and the school. It will all be over soon. Sorry that Sandy Evans took away little Jebby Stuart. Maybe those who miss can get an action figure ![]() |
Study up a little more on the tax plan. There are offsets to the tax write off. |
You self-identify as a "deplorable" by resorting to calling your neighbors "A-holes". And just to note that there was a broad base of concern against the Meals Tax (232K votes NO: 56%). The whole point of addressing the name JEB Stuart was to recognize, and ameliorate, the exclusion that certain students (and community members) experienced from the honor that the community bestowed on this historical figure. It was certainly intended to help build unity and cohesion and pride in, and among, the community - that it failed so spectacularly is evidenced, in part, in your insensitive and aggressive assertions. |
It seems to me that the "changers" want revenge rather than unity. Everything posted by them would indicate this.
I'm one of those who would have voted to compromise with "Stuart" had I been in the community. I am also one of those footing the bill for something that I realize will not improve the education of students--and, I speak as one who has spent years in the education field--many of those years with needy kids. I agree that Jeb Stuart was a poor choice of name, but I also do not see how renaming the school is a good value for the dollars spent. I guess, according to the "changers" that makes me a racist. I am not. Dollars that are earmarked for the education of our children will be spent on something of little value in improving their education. I would have supported "Stuart" because it was the least expensive alternative. Until all of this was brought up, no one even thought about who Jeb Stuart was. |
Your last paragraph gives away your ignorance and hypocrisy. People were keenly aware of who JEB Stuart was. They just expected others who were deeply offended to suck it up and continue to honor the Confederacy. Finally some brave students and community members spoke up. Good for them. |
Didn't one of the student leaders of the change mention that she was not earlier aware of Jeb Stuart's history? |
It is a truism that someone wouldn't be aware of the history until they learned the history. The School Board listened to Keepers argue for over two years that no one was offended until "outsiders" got involved and rejected such frivolous arguments. |
So, the point is that "outsiders" made the decision to spend $1million of taxpayers' money on something the kids did not even notice? Wow. Is that good value for the dollar? |

Thank you for your donations! Yay! $400.00 today. Maybe, Julianne finally made her donation? |
I see your reading comprehension skills are on par with your level of empathy. In either case, you are a sore loser. |
15:00 I don't have a dog in this fight, but the comment made sense. You are deflecting. |
