Oh dear. My child takes a backpack to school every day. I take a backpack to work every day. (There is no liquor in my backpack.)

This is so true!! But to answer your question, once they hit high school it no longer a question of "what are their parents doing right", but rather "did they end up in the right friend group".

True. But when kids are young, you have lots of opportunity
to influence how they select their friends.

Learning how to be prudently "judgmental" is essential.
Or how can kids learn to select (and be) a good friend?

Back to topic.

Jail time. What else do the rich care about?

But. Not. One. Single. Day.
For the death of two people.

Let the killings continue?

Their parents have set a good example, as in, Just say "No."
The kids do not need to be attending these drinking parties.
Again, just say "No."

If we don't set healthy boundaries, how can the kids do it?

I'd be surprised if there ends up being no jail time here. It's too early to say bus wise the investigation is t complete. But Mo o has a history of jail sentences in this sort of circumstance.

For the hosts? Or just the driver?

Driver will probably get it, host won't. I would really like to see host get it.

Even if the host ends up being another 18 year old.

Does a Montgomery County bar or restaurant have any liability when they serve someone who drinks and then kills people in a car crash?

Found: OCEAN CITY — Maryland’s highest court last week ruled restaurants and bars in the state could not be held liable for the actions of their intoxicated patrons once they leave the establishment in a potential landmark decision.
The Maryland Court of Appeals handed down a majority opinion that absent dram shop liability law in Maryland, a Montgomery County tavern could not be held responsible for the actions of an intoxicated patron who consumed around 20 alcoholic beverages in the establishment before leaving in his truck, barreling down a highway at speeds approaching 100 mph and crashing into the rear of a vehicle carrying a family, killing a 10-year-old girl and seriously injuring others.

Astounding, Montgomery County. Shame on you.

What does have Montgomery County have to do with it besides the place where the death occurred? The Court of Appeals which is located in Annapolis made the decision in this case.

Minor update: investigation takes about 60 days. Also confirmed that no one in MoCo has any integrity.

It truly is sad. The kid and his parents have lawyered up. The parents hosting the party have lawyered up. Both Ellis and Li had citations but yet their parents allowed them out to party again. Very sad.

People passing judgment when they don't know the facts. Very sad.
