Ok Navy Mom/teacher wink wink 😉 |
Wow, you are truly ignorant, disgusting and racist. In most situations, the word "boy" is not a problem. Used to describe a Black man, however, the word is troublesome. That's because historically, White people routinely described Black men as boys to suggest they weren't on equal footing with them. Both during and after enslavement, Black people weren't viewed as full-fledged people but as mentally, physically, and spiritually inferior beings to White people. Calling Black men "boys" was one way to express the racist ideologies of yesteryear. |
| oh please listen to all the white kids calling their buddies "my boy"... the racist undertones of the past have been erased. stop making this an issue when there is true racism happening. |
You’re an idiot. |
White boys using it doesn’t make it ok or any less racist. They need to be taught. Educate yourself so you aren’t so ignorant. What we have here is an adult who should know better referring to a black principal as someone’s “boy” just because that someone refuses to tear him down and join in with some of the Navy moms/teachers who don’t like him. Very sad and makes the Navy community look bad. |
| FCPS is a hellscape of nasty parents and poor leadership of the school system. Teachers who can go are going. |
And there are also some awful teachers. |
Just stop you're embarrassing yourself. |
+1 |
The only one that should be embarrassed is the poster that referred to a black principal as someone’s “boy” and claimed they drove the teachers away. |
Pretty sure the pp didn't mean it that way. Poor choice of words for them but I think it is time to move on and quit the insults. If you can't move on then maybe it's time to seek therapy. |
I personally haven’t insulted anybody. |
Someone is very behind the times. “Your boy” means your friend/a guy you think is so great/etc. See for reference, a Jay Z song or the mother of mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who once urged a crowd of supporters “Don’t let them talk about y’all’s boy”. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r18m7qM8Biw Now, if the previous poster had called this principal “a boy” or “that boy” you’d have good grounds to suspect racial animus. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. |
In both of those cases you cited to prove your point, it was a black person using that term. It is very different when a white person uses that term to describe a black man. Please use some common sense. |
Original poster - you are being flippant. You know you obviously don't think he is great. I think he is a decent person and you all need to give him a chance as it appears that he has filled all of the vacancies. To the person insulting teachers, you can home school or go to private school. To the above person, we get it. It's disrespectful and it's time to move on. It's Friday, go watch some Netflix. |
