+1 It was Gerri they were talking about. Between the three of them - Karl, Frank, and Gerri - Gerri's name was the one most realistically floated to take over. Karl and Frank don't want that and have probably been jealous of Gerri's access to Logan for years. So they're agreeing, they don't want that "princess" taking the reins. Interesting that they didn't seem to have an issue with both the boys taking over together. |
But then why , when Geri walked in, did they show her the paper and continue to talk “in a humerus vein” about throwing the paper away, with her in the mix of the Convo? |
MIND BLOWN!! I had no idea Milton was Stephen Root! DP |
+1. I am re-watching this episode and Karl is definitely referring to Gerri. Gerri just viciously and snidely ridiculed Karl when he tried to put himself forward for CEO and he was trying to undercut her when she was advocating for herself. I am not surprised they refer to Gerri as "the princess." These are guys that came up in a time of massive and accepted sexism. Gerri is older now, but she' s attractive and was obviously attractive when she was younger. Karl at least resents her. |
+2 Definitely Gerri. Karl and Frank have probably always felt like secondary characters compared to her and they DID NOT want Gerri to become CEO. |
So then Geri walked in, saw the paper (since she clearly walked in as they were holding it and chatting), joined on on joking that they should make the paper disappear, and then joined in on changing her name to say “Greg”? |
Wow! Did not recognize him at all. Also, Hugo was the dorky guy from the 80s movie Short Circuit (where he offensively played an Indian man in brownface). |
This. |
Hugo HAS NO NECK |
+1 It’s so distracting. He’s like Mr. Mackey on South Patk. |
We don’t know for a fact that they have done anything to the document. It is all speculation. |
Rewatching Office Space tonight. Red stapler. |
I'm a DP, and disagree with you. I thought the PP's analysis was interesting and don't really get why you are (or all of you, if there are multiple) are so worked up about it. It's definitely true that people sometimes start rooting for anti-heroes and are weirdly comfortably overlooking really horrible behavior. I've even read interviews with creators of shows like this who express surprise about how much people will root for characters they've written to be terrible. Also, if the Roy's are characters in Robin Hood, they are obviously Prince John, trying to steal the kingdom from the king (though that makes Logan Good King Richard, which doesn't track -- it's actually a pretty poor analogy). Anyway, if you don't agree, just move along. Posting multiple non-substantive criticisms of the PP where you just insult them and call them names is significantly less interesting to read than a theory that I may or may not agree with. At least PP put some thought into it. You are just being mindlessly nasty. |
I agree that Karl, especially, does not want Gerri to become CEO -- I think there is bad blood beyond competitiveness between them. However, I do not think Gerri was the "princess" he was referring to. I think it was someone else (best bet is Shiv) penciled onto the paper, and then he's also mentioning that Gerri is trying to push him aside. So it's like a list: (1) princess, (2) Gerri. Also, if they were referring to Gerri, what does that have to do with the paper? They didn't have time to do anything to it before Gerri came in, so the paper couldn't have mentioned Gerri (also, unlikely to me that Logan would have specified Gerri for taking over, he didn't particularly like her and was suspicious of her for quite a while before he died). So I don't think there was anything on the paper that implicated Gerri, which means there must have been something else on the paper that concerned them, and that ultimately winds up concerning Gerri as well. The princess. |
For the PPs whining that the cursing has increased this season, you're nuts. I just rewatched the first episode, and nothing has changed. Also, it's an HBO series - WTF did you expect? |
