I am 48, 5 6, and my weight has crept up to 150.
If I cut out all sugar and alcohol, ate clean at 1200-1400 calories, cardio and weights 4 times a week, do you think this is possible in six weeks? |
Why don't you try it and see if it works? |
What are you doing now? What are you going to do after the 6 weeks? Is this just a crash diet where you gain 20 additional pounds when it's over? |
No. Embrace the fat. |
Yes. But expect to stay on the same routine (forever) to keep those pounds from sneaking back. |
I guess I am wondering if anyone with similar age and build has done it. I don't want to embrace the fat. And I plan on going sugar free after the six weeks, continuing the exercise, but perhaps stay at 1400 calories. I am not thinking about this as a diet, but a lifestyle change. I need to fit back into my clothes. |
Yes, but you would have to extremely disciplined, especially on the diet. |
The six weeks is because I gave myself until Christmas to do this. Really just curious if others have done this safely. |
Currently, how many calories are you eating per day? I ask this because 1 pound = 3500 calories. Using simple math, if you lower your intake 3500 calories per week, you will lose 1 pound per week. |
I have done 2 whole30s and lost over 10 lbs each time, without counting calories or feeling hungry. |
Two pounds a week is doable and healthy, so yes, totally possible if you are disciplined and don't lose more than that per week (risk of losing muscle that you need to burn calories.) |
I did it when I was 32. I'm afraid to try again at 48. I kept it all off until the kids came. Then between working, parenting, and just plain exhaustion, I gave up the routines. You can but try -- I think 10 is doable -- not sure if you could lose big numbers if you had that to lose. |
Possible, but much harder because of your age. I've lost 10lbs ust recently in less than 2 months. Fasting, real, 500 calories couple of times per week. It works. At our age (I am about the same age)it is much harder to lose weight. I was not over 110lbs and at 5'4" until a few years ago. |
How does fasting work? Do you threaten you metabolism? |
Just finished my first two weeks ago and lost 10 pounds. I feel so great I’m never going back. I will add more carbs like brown rice, but no gluten, dairy, and very limited alcohol. OP you can do it but it takes a major mental adjustment to become permanent. Good luck. |
