| What league is McLean's top 07 team playing in this season? |
National Elite Premier Superior Advanced Development Champions League.
|
For the adults on the board, NCSL Top Division (or Division T) |
I have no dog in the 2007 race. Since McLean's Pre-ECNL lost 3-0 to FCV's 07s, I think that's true. Not sure if Loudoun has as of yet matched up against either McLean or FCV. |
| We will take a look at FCV too. They clearly have a strong DA program. We are going to look at all of the DA and ECNL teams. So what is keeping FCV 07 from being clear #1? Someone mentioned depth, any thoughts are appreciated. |
For having an 07 you certainly don’t know much about the clubs in the area which means you either 1. Recently moved here 2. Live just outside of the region and are willing to drive 3. Play for a small club the likes of which has never played against the ECNL or DA clubs either in league or tournament play. FCV 07’s have never beaten Loudoun Red as previously stated. Both rosters have maintained their core players. FCV lost to Great Falls last year as the only NPL team they lost too. Great Falls is significant because that team core will become the Spirit DAs team. Always losing to Loudoun means there may be some kids on that team who move over to FCV and they will displace FCV kids. This will be more interesting in terms of DA vs ECNL. Much of FCV’s 07 DA is probably 70% determined at this point. There are kids they know outside of the club likely ready to come. What does this mean for you? Simple, your kid has to be an absolute stud to crack a roster that they will likely limit to 14. And I don’t say this because their players are amazing, just that they will take known commodity’s over a kid they’ve never seen before. The outside kids that they will take they have already seen play in games or have played Super Y with them. They may be outside of the club but they are known players. And, frankly that is how most clubs are. Spirit to a lesser extent but as the Great Falls relationship grows they will also have a known and developed core group of players to start with versus starting from scratch every year with kids who just show up from anywhere. Spirit not having no boots on the ground in youth leagues to even see the players in games to even know who to reach out to has been most of their problem and that will change over the course of 07’s and 08’s. So, your approach to shop the clubs like you are buying a car will only go as far as the talent of your DD but most clubs will not take an outside player who appears to be the same as a player they already know and have seen for several years at that point. |
McLean 07 beat Loudoun’s top team in a tournament final this season after losing to Loudoun Black earlier in same tournament. If current McLean 07 sticks together they will have a strong ECNL team. |
Check GotSoccer. Loudoun Soccer lost to 07 Mclean Soccer at OBGC. |
| Loudoun Red 07 lost 1-0 to McLean Green 07 at OBGC. Loudoun Black beat McLean Green 07 the same weekend 3-0. If anything that shows Loudoun has a deep pool of players. And that McLean is legit as well to beat a Loudoun team that has never lost to a VA team before. |
I'm not sure they aren't #1. I actually think they are, but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to Arlington and to Loudoun to see how they match up with clubs and teams I know. I have no doubt they are stronger than McLean. |
Well they have never beaten Loudoun and while Loudoun plays in top brackets at Jeff Cup and other tourneys FCV is a 4th bracket team at Jeff Cup. Is this the opinion of the tourney organizer or is FCV sandbagging for Got Soccer points? Probably a bit of both. |
To be fair, shouldn't FCV 07 at least start making it to the finals games in recent tournaments they played in before you start calling them #1? Let's keep it real. |
If you had older kids, you'd know tournaments don't tell you much. Coaches often use it as a time to change up line ups, change up strategies, and I've even been on teams where that's the one time they do play ups. They don't do them for leagues and regular season work, but they do them at tournaments. So, no, I don't actually judge it based on tournaments. |
The bulk of the FCV 07 DA team will likely come from Loudoun. They should probably reach out to the 07s that are currently playing for Spirit and Arlington but I doubt they will move. |
Spirit and Arlington DA that is |
