Raising business taxes by 55% doesn't help if then the businesses leave. Same with the 1%.

Basically, a Catch 22 for NYC.

well duh. that's the problem with socialism. the demand for free stuff by the masses is infinite, but the ability of the 1% to pay for it is finite, not to mention their willingness to pay for it.

If business taxes are raised by 55%, those businesses will pass those taxes right along to their customers in the form of much higher prices for their products and services and lower employee benefits. Businesses may sign the check but they don’t actually pay taxes, their customers do. Silly liberals. They just don’t understand economics.

You are so close to understanding how the Trump tariffs work, but clueless about how actual taxes work. Don’t worry, though, if you keep sucking I’m sure that the rich people will tell you that you are pretty.

I do get it. Tariffs are eventually passed along to the end customer as well. What they need to do is end the giveaways and social programs and make people work for it.

You do realize not every human being can work, right?

DP. And those people who truly can't should be on Medicare and get SNAP. But there are plenty of people who abuse the system. And what really gets me is that we let our poor and needy do without while sanctuary cities give free food and housing to illegal immigrants. All because they need that demographic to stay in office. You people are the ultimate grifters.

Wow, he’s an all shock & awe socialist nutjob.

Now we all know, not just New Yorkers.

Maybe if you actually listened to what he had to say you would know that he doesn’t want to permanently disband the police, he doesn’t even want to decrease the number of officers, also he wants to have the NYPD target serious crimes like sexual harassment, which Cuomo has REPEATEDLY done. But I get where you’re coming from, helping average New Yorkers and the working class? Gross! Actually do your research for once.

He believes in DISMANTLING the police permanently. He will replace the NYPD with "Department of Community Safety" with unarmed security and social workers.

If it’s too costly an area to live and you don’t have a stable job there, just MOVE to a lower cost of living place with your industry jobs or switch industries or functions.

Wtf.

This is so obvious even uneducated illegal immigrants get it.

True.

Thanks for the link where Mamdini said he’ll DISMANTLE the NYPD. There’s no point in anyone trying to hide what he said.

The right and corporate dems are having a field day misrepresenting this guys words and putting thoughts to his name for things he never said or did. It is quite shameful.

Ah, ZM's PR team has entered the chat. He believes in Global Intifada. He is anti-semetic. He cares more about illegal immigrants than working class NYers, regardless of what you say. He has never held an actual job. I mean, the list is endless. He's a good looking rich kid with a great political team behind him, you notwithstanding.

Working class New Yorkers overwhelmingly voted for Cuomo. Mamdami was elected by wealthy and some middle class New Yorkers.

When the left talks about working class, we mean anyone who works for a living. There are people who work, and there are people who exploit the labor of others. All other distinctions are distractions meant to divide us.

What matters is that he win the nomination, will hopefully win the election, and will have the opportunity to help working people of NYC.

That is … interesting. So the hedge fund trader with a $10m upper west side penthouse is now “working class.”

Quite a linguistic tongue twister!

A hedge fund trader is still someone who makes money from exploiting people who do actual jobs. Petite bourgeoisie, or class traitor, if you prefer.

The Republicans are way closer to Fascism than any Democrat is to Socialism.

For some reason they want to worry about the one that helps people and not the one that hurts them. I think that’s all we need to know about maga.

W2 earners - people who actually work and make a middle income in NYC - voted for Mamdani. Cuomo got people who don't have W2 income - either they are (1) poor getting handouts or (2) the capital gains/secured borrowing crowd.

This idea that "Mamdani got the votes of unemployed white liberals!" makes zero sense. He got the votes of people who actually work for a W2 paycheck.
