Basically, a Catch 22 for NYC.

Or he will get into office and do only a fraction of what he campaigned on, like most politicians.

I think the biggest problem he can cause would be with policing and the police. The mayor has the ability to install the chief of police. NYC was cleaned up in part by bringing in very tough chiefs of police. After de Blasio, Adams ran as a former police officer who promised to clean up de Blasio's mess. It's already an uphill battle due to the huge influx of illegal immigrants that have overwhelmed the city's resources, combined with Zero Bail.

NYC is estimated to have a 4.5B deficit by 2027, and that is before any additional spending proposed by Mamdani.

I will add, that NY is constitutionally mandated to have a balanced budget. The way that gets done is by cutting services. It is clear that politicians like Mamdani don't understand, or I should say don't care about reality, and just say whatever will get votes from people who want to believe the rhetoric.

What a shister Mamfani is. He and AOC are a perfect pair!

Totally.

Same maniacal phony baloney fake ridiculous promises to get the vote. Then. Nothing but talk and whining and tweets. Waste of space.

The man hasn't even won the general election yet and you're acting like he has already failed. Why does he scare you so much?

I find it sad and pathetic that 20-something NYc voters are so stupid to vote for a conman.

But other than that, I’m LMAO. So are you but for totally opposite reasons!

..and in this fantasy world, this is who you think voted for him? People that live in New York City that do not pay taxes?

Fascinating.

And this “free stuff,” is it in the room with us now?

DP but yes. Unemployed mis-educated college grads with Studies majors, whose negligent parents stay pay their costs to do nothing.

Exactly how many people like this do you think exist? You think he won the election purely off of votes from people like you've described? You think the majority of NYC is made up of people like you've described? That makes sense to you?

Yet another P, but there are something like 4.5 million people registered to vote in NYC. Only 1mm of them voted in this primary. This is a lot for a primary, I agree, but 1mm didn't vote for ZM. It remains to be seen what will happen in the general election if the masses are mobilized.

He believes in DISMANTLING the police permanently. He will replace the NYPD with "Department of Community Safety" with unarmed security and social workers.

If it’s too costly an area to live and you don’t have a stable job there, just MOVE to a lower cost of living place with your industry jobs or switch industries or functions.

Wtf.

This is so obvious even uneducated illegal immigrants get it.

The majority of his voters are. Read the data polls and voter interviews. Living on a dream.

I have. Cuomo got the poor vote. How does that factor into your little fantasy? How exactly does Mamdani win win a majority off the votes of unemployed college grads? Is that the majority of people in NYC? Does the math of what you're saying even make sense?

well duh. that's the problem with socialism. the demand for free stuff by the masses is infinite, but the ability of the 1% to pay for it is finite, not to mention their willingness to pay for it.

The 1% in NYC are billionaires. They aren’t leaving because of the possibility of free buses. He hasn’t even stepped foot in the office yet. He might do just fine.

All the 1% need to do is not stay in the City more than 183 days, and voila, they don't have to pay City or State income tax. Many of them already do this.

So you think rich people should dodge their taxes, but everyone else are the lazy freeloaders?

You must have just finished lunch and have some energy to burn off before you have to take your nap. And no, this is not just the 1% who do this. But one, you referenced the 1%, and two, this happens with the remainder of the population to a much lesser degree because most people work at jobs that don't allow them to leave 184 days a year.

Look up how many people even vote in a late June primary there and report back PP.

Then who will serve you your food if they all move away? Bus your tables? Clean the floors? Scrubs the bathrooms? Stock your groceries? Morons.

Yes, I do in fact have a job! It seems like you don't, poor thing. I notice you didn't address my question. Why is it everyone else who is lazy and freeloading, but rich people who dodge their taxes get no ire from you?

I'm not the DP. No one is talking about unemployed college grads as the sole constituency of ZM. Most young white liberals living in NYC have low paying jobs and are supported in part by parents. The support thins out around age 30, and dwindles to next to nothing at 40+. And Cuomo got a lot of money, but really kept a low profile because he was doing so well until the very end. ZM skyrocketed in a matter of days right before the primary when he was photographed trying to storm Homan's speech. Whoever ran his campaign is a genius.

Failed rapper socialist runs for mayor of $112
Billion New York City.

I feel for your employer if you're sitting around having meltdowns on DCUM instead of working. However, the point of this isn't about who is lazy and who is dodging their taxes, the point is that the 1% tax base is not infinite if they leave, or spend significantly less time here. Like I said, you must need a nap because you are showing that you don't know how to, one, keep track of your own talking points, and/or two, you just want to argue for the sake of arguing, so you change your point rather than discuss your original statement. I'm guessing you're a young white liberal who voted for ZM, or else would have if you lived in NYC.
