I think all of her VP choices being vetted (Shapiro, Walz, Beshear, Cooper, Buttigieg, Kelley, etc.) are all strong in different ways.
Some people are overly hung up on their minority status (gay, Jewish, etc.) as the only reason. I think their full personal story, state, and communication style matters more. For example, everyone counts out Buttigieg because of anti-gay discrimination. But many independents relate to him. He's a veteran (he served in Afghanistan), a father and family man, Christian man of faith with lots of integrity and character. He was very effective in Fox town halls back in 2019 when he was running for Pres and many independents and a few conservatives really adored him. He's also an excellent communicator. Personally, I don't think she can go wrong with any of them. Each could be an asset to the ticket and offer some good things. |
Pence was from Indiana, a state Trump was definitely going to win in 2016. Vance is from Ohio, a state that Trump is definitely going to hold in 2024. |
Beshear, because he’s younger, and he can actually leave his state to campaign nationwide without leaving it in the hands of a crazed lunatic. |
Looks like Shapiro is out of running for his handling of sexual harassment in the workplace, ironically.
Hearing more talk about Mayor Pete as a potential VP. |
The Harris campaign co-opted Walz’s “they’re weird” messaging because it’s damn effective. He knows how to speak to regular people.

No one is talking about Mayor Pete as a potential VP. He's a very talented politician with a bright future, but Indiana is not in play, and a Biden cabinet secretary is not a big add to the ticket. If he's being vetted, it's out of politeness. |
+1 Mark Kelly. Kamala needs the sunbelt states to win. And he helps her on her vulnerabilities on border issues. |
He’s great in many ways but unions don’t like him and putting his seat in play is too risky. |
+1 |
This is so important. I really like him. |
An AG or GC is always going to have baggage when it comes to work place settlement agreements, etc. They settle - that’s what they do. The accused have a wide array of due process and privacy rights. He also fully executed on the Catholic Church investigation in PA, which had been stymied by both Dems and Republicans with loyalty to the Church. It took a Jewish AG to shine on the Church. Eternally grateful to Shapiro for that. I hope he’s not out of the running. |
I like him too; he’s my governor. I would prefer to keep him but if he did get the VP nod and they win, Minnesota would have Governor Flanagan, and she would be the first Native American (White Earth Ojibwe) governor. Pretty neat. |
That’s very cool. I’ve been a little worried he looks a good bit older than he actually is, but maybe funny plainspoken grandpa type would nicely balance the ticket. |
When are they going to announce? I feel like a kid on Christmas. |
