Fed rate hikes to fight unprecedented inflation
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/04/fed-raises-rates-by-half-a-percentage-point-the-biggest-hike-in-two-decades-to-fight-inflation.html While the 8.5% inflation rate is the U.S. overall average, Utah and other Mountain West states that include Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico and Wyoming saw annual inflation increase at a nation-leading 10.4% in March. Cars and homes will be more unaffordable now, prices of diesel have doubled and freight costs are up. This will impact consumers too. |
How nice of you to thank him for adding nearly half a million new jobs. 😊 |
| Honestly I dont care about the unemployment rate especially when every other metric in the economy is going down the toliet at a historic levels. What's the point being employed when your real wages are going down and you struggle paying for basic living expenses due to inflation |
During the pandemic, nearly 20% of the population switched jobs. And of those that switched jobs, approximately 29% reported that their salary jumped 30+%. Approximately 20% reported that their salary jumped 10-20%. So nearly 10% of the total employment force switched jobs for a 10+% increase over what they were making. Those who are having problems living day-to-day, paycheck-to-paycheck, should consider switching jobs. And exempt employees make up the bulk of the job switchers and are the most likely to get a salary bump. Additionally the jobs most likely to be left unfilled are the ones paying minimum wage. Those employers are going to feel the pressure to increase the wages that they offer to even get people to consider working for them. With unemployment numbers so low there are fewer and fewer people who need a job and who will be willing to step into a minimum wage job, so real wages are going to have to go up for those employers to fill their openings. 44 The employment numbers do make a big difference in how people keep up with the economy. The employment numbers help to push up real wages, but most of the time, people need to switch jobs to really take advantage of wage increases. And that's the way it's always been. Very few employers pay significant annual increases. Most people have to job hop to get a significant bump in salary. https://www.fool.com/research/20-percent-americans-changed-careers/ https://www.fool.com/research/20-percent-americans-changed-careers/ |

Because NBC, CBS, ABC, anything “mainstream” really - it’s all pro-GOP propaganda. It all reflects the message the GOP wants out there and for those who don’t care a lot about politics, that’s how they hear the news, that’s how new info is filtered in and placed. Hillary was right. It’s all a vast right wing conspiracy. |

Absolutely horrific numbers for consumer credit printed today:
https://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/g19/current/g19.pdf What is massively concerning is the DOUBLING of revolving credit (so not even counting credit due to mortgages and cars that are going up in price). It means this economy is increasingly being propped up with credit card usage, because consumers have $0 left after rising food, fuel, and housing costs. Consumption is about to fall off a cliff, because this is not sustainable. When that happens, this economy collapses. Very bad news today. |
I guess you didn’t read the analysis of this which stated that it was primarily due to unusual timing of student loan borrowing. Basically an accounting anomaly. Another month, another 400k+ jobs added. |
No..... people have eyes, ears, and wallets. They know when they are being lied to. All of Biden's claims about "creating jobs" is utter BS. These are nearly all jobs that have returned since the pandemic. Biden has done nothing to help the economy. He has implemented more regulations, gutted the energy industry, and caused inflation to spike. He is not business friendly. And, then he turns around and BLAMES businesses for the spike in prices he has primarily caused. We are not stupid. He can stand and lie all he wants, but the reality is that people are struggling to make ends meet.... especially the poor and those on fixed incomes. |
That's not revolving credit. Revolving credit DOUBLED. Please tell me you really aren't this dense. |
You overestimate the intelligence of the Ava her person. To us your statements as an example: “gutted the energy industry” when production has increased significantly in the last year and profits are at record levels. “Caused inflation to spike” when inflation is up worldwide due to supply chains and war…or maybe one American man is responsible for inflation in every country of the world. |
