| It's amazing to think about a dorky 14 year old who wrote her own songs now being the mega successful 27 year old global brand today. What did she do right? Will her reign ever end? |
| Two things: A genius manager who took a huge risk taking her on, and that she's absolutely gorgeous. Looks aren't everything but, honestly, she's not that great of a singer. |
When you see pictures of her she looks like a doll/model. When you see her in videos and interviews you can tell she's extremely bright and is actually kind of dorky and goofy, unless that too is part of her image. |
| Blonde, thin, white |
Weird to think we need to thank Scott Borchetta. I don't know if I can do it. |
I think it's part of her image. Squeaky clean girl next door. She also managed to get through her teens without pulling a Miley or a Bieber and I suspect that's the product of good parenting and probably her intelligence, like you said. |
This. She's not exceptionally talented or even offering a unique sound. |
| She wrights music. She produces results . She has talent. |
What did she do right? Talent. Will her reign ever end? Why, are you hoping it does? (And the answer is no, it won't.) |
+2 She also clearly likes/seeks the limelight, so in the Entertainment industry it's a mutually beneficial relationship. |
You and the pp who call Taylor Swift "untalented" sound very jealous. Let's see how many songs you have written and preformed for thousands of people. You don't have to like her to acknowledge that she is talented and very sucessful. |
|
talent + ambition + good management = success (sometimes)
I do also think the fact she is skinny and blond helps |
I only see what's in the news, and even I can say with confidence that she's clearly not a "squeaky clean girl next door." That's simply not her image. Swift is a highly-successful woman because she makes decent-enough music, has a good team, and knows how to market herself. That's the secret of her success. |
She is not "exceptionally" talented. We will not collectively be talking about her five years from now. She will not go down as an innovator or some rare jewel in the history of music. She has done nothing earth shattering or groundbreaking or innovative or even especially creative. I don't have to write music or perform in front of audiences to see that. |
| Also it is really childish and immature to claim someone with valid criticism of Taylor or any other entertainer is "jealous." |
